HY07 MER ~ private number plate for sale soon

To ascertain a private sale value just ask a dealer how much they'd buy it off you for. A little above that would be a fair price.

Sometimes if you go down this route a dealer would offer you a sum, but wouldn't buy from you until they actually sell...........in effect they act as a broker.

Riding on the back of this thread, anyone fancy S11YMR, looks silly on my Dethleffs.

Like a lot on here we have a HYM reg had it for 10years for the simple reason it's easy to remember Camp sites etc. I would say a fair price for these HYM regs is between £250 and £300.

I thought that for an 07 plate to transfer this would require the vehicle it was going on to be registered after 07.
A note in DVLA as I recall that the number cannot make the vehicle look to be newer than it actually is

You are right Jim, well spotted.

Thanks everyone for the input, but Jimbohorlicks I think that's what I wrote

I may be wrong but with a year related plate you can only fit that to a vehicle the year the plate refers to or younger, so in effect our plate can be used on vehicles 2007 to 2016 or 10 years of production. The example kindly given by SDC77 for a 2016 vehicle only costs £394.00 without plates or £431.08 with the plates made and posted. This gives me an idea as our plate can be fitted to so many more vehicles, a much wider group of potential buyers.

why would someone want to put and 07 plate on a new or nearly new vehicle:coffee:

yes you did , my apologies-I missed your post. I was just aware that some folks asking had older vans than the 07 plate(y)

Which is what I think when I see these plates. "That MH looks newer than that." The H.. MER bit being completely lost on me. :)

However, I'm all in favour of recycling old number plates - it generates revenue for the exchequer which has to be a good thing! :)

KB16 MHF is currently £599 on the DVLA site but would also require a new van to put it on

As always it's each to his or her own, really lucky we are not all the same eh?

DBK I think you left something our of your example, I think you meant to write HY..MER

At the end of the day cherished plates are like everything else; it's got nothing to do with what they're worth but the value that a potential purchaser puts to them.
I live in Cornwall and have four 'old style' plates, some on vehicles and some on retention. You wouldn't believe how important it is for folks down here to display a local plate on their vehicle, particularly an 'old style' Cornish registration with AF, CV, RL or GL. If you have one of these plates it's better than investing in an ISA.
So I say to @veevee, hang on in there. Your plate is probably only worth £300 to £400 to Joe Public but there's someone out there who will pay lots more and think that he's got a bargain. If I wasn't selling my Hymer I may have made you an offer, but I already have a lovely old Cornish plate on it.
Stef.

Why, surely 'Silly Mr' is fine on any vehicle driven by a man!

My thoughts too. We put a 58 plate on a 13 vehicle because we didn't fancy a 13 plate but mainly to incorporate my wife's initials, our house number and my initials on a personalised plate. I've just bought the previous number too, our last house, with the same initials, anybody got a spare car to stick it on? :)

OK, Rosie and I have set a price for the HY07MER plates

... £550 to include the retention cost is what we'll accept
