Humber bridge tolls

I now avoid it and travel at the right time … the Australian owners of the M6 making a mint out of its users .
Many more people would use it if the idiot civil service contract department had put a cap on the price rises. McQuarrie are well known for being a bunch of sharks but I suspect that with such light traffic they are losing their shirts

Surely they'll be loosing their 'flannies'? :giggle:

Scunthorpe dear duck, Scunthorpe is where I go sometimes, don't do Grimsby as the motorway surface is concrete for a long stretch so it's like driving on a cheese grater.
I is a Scunny Bunny and use the bridge a few times in MH and as I DJ out at Cleethorpes frequently I have to concur with the concrete road comment, a chappy who had been driving up n down it for about 7 years tried to sue them for loss of hearing but it got chucked out of court, I did see an article a couple of years ago where funding had been agreed to resurface it all over 2 years, not started yet :o

If you are going to Clee, then why not take the turn for Tumbleweed International airport and follow the A18? A much better road (we always use it) and might even see an aeroplane as you pass the airport. Time is about the same. We live in Holton le Clay

Unlike those from Botty ... who have 26 but haven't a clue what to do with half of them! 😄
I thought that you lot still pointed at cars! :imoutahere:

Only the one you drive! 😄

At least I can remember where live ... has Zog banished you? 😄
Temporary exile as it is duck hunting season there. Most people point at my car…..

Hi, don't be tempted to use the drive over and pay later on line if you have a private HGV classed (over 3500kg) MH or you will find you will get charged £4, we normally drive through and pay later if in car to beat the queues and it's just £1.50, been over in MH a few times in no rush and the nice operated in the booths just assume we are under 3500 kg and charge us £1.50 - every little helps
The toll for a MH is £1.50 regardless of the weight....including massive american RV's and Morellos/Concords etc hence why the booth operators charge you £1.50 (they know this is the correct rate).
When you incorrectly use the TAG lane then the ANPR system reads your number plate and checks your weight and hence you got charged £4 because the system cannot decipher whether you are a MH or not.
If you had rung the bridge they would have amended your charge to £1.50

I was only alerting Funsters of what may happen, I have avoided any excessive fee's myself and I refer you to the Bridges own website re. charges, when in the car I just drive through and pay later (not to late though or its £30) :)

I understand that you're trying to save Funsters from incurring fines...the point I was alluding to is that the TAG lane is for TAG customers and concessions ONLY. It is not for driving through when its busy and then paying later, that's why people get fined when they forget...the simplest way for Funsters to cross is via the toll booths if in their MH, that way they will be guaranteed to only pay £1.50 and won't have to worry about getting a fine.
The bridge will in the next couple of years be shutting the toll booths and going all open road tolling...part of the reason for this is the number of people choosing to use the TAG lane without a TAG account causing massive amounts of back office work and costs.

Sounds typical, sod making it easier for the motorist with no computer (or tech savvy).
Look after the back office workers and, to management, the cost!

This wek we paid £3.90 for the Tyne Tunnel & it's only about 1/4 the length of Humber Bridge!:crying:
Yes but it goes somewhere. Unlike the other.

Actually I thought we got through as a car, as we always did when we had the disk. Just checked and its cost us £3.51 x 2 there and back as it's now numberplate recognition. In future I'll go through Newcastle when in the motorhome.

My technician took her daughter to Hull University from Norfolk. She objected to paying the toll so decided to return a different route. Unfortunately she failed to spot the junction for the A1 and continued on the M62 to Leeds, then M1 past Sheffield to Nottingham and eventually home via Grantham.

After that she stuck to the Bridge!
