I’m pretty sure that three network , are pulling my leg after an hour on their chat support line but …

Been travelling south through belguim france Germany and Italy and now when here can pick up a local network but no network access . Three say everything is fine their end and to call HUAWEI - which you can’t . But ..
I’ve check all the obvious router settings etc but has any of you techno wizards had this before and been able to resolve it .

Have you ran out of data, only allowed 12gb with three even with daily charge.

I’ve been with 3 for years and currently have unlimited data - but not in France! Limited to 12g😟

I have a new to me Huawei B535-232 which has been excellent up to 4x the speed of my ZTE mifi...

Anyway, here on a field in Abingdon my Chromebook connected but no internet.
Googling (on my phone) suggested repeated forgetting the network combined with rebooting might resolve the issue... and it did finally.

Networking is a dark art.

Do any of your devices connect?

Got unlimited sim , same sim as for last 3 years
Rules may have changed following the B word. Unlimited in UK but quite restricted in Euroland.

Huawei settings are often a challenge to get right. Need to ensure the APN is correct for your network with roaming enabled. May be difficult to set if already abroad and reboot may not be enough.

I thought I’d just cancel the three contract and continue to hotspot from this phone - which has worked fine :-)

Not all devices will automatically select the correct APN, you need to check that the one your mifi is using is the correct one.

Is it just a case of trying each on the list until it works ?

No, first, are you on an actual 3 contract or do you have a contract with a company that uses the 3 network? if the latter then you need to do a google search using the name of your provider, as an example I have a Tesco mobile account which uses O2 network i needed to search for tesco mobile apn not O2 apn, if you are on a 3 contract then search for 3 apn, next if you can identify the apn you found in your google search in your list then use that otherwise add a new one using the info from your Google search, if you are already on the correct apn then the problem must lay elsewhere but the apn check would be the first thing I would do.

Yes it’s a 3 contract . I tried the two listed 3 APN settings for three but to no avail . It automatically picks up windtree . I’ll play around again after after my beer and steak sandwich :-)

It may not be enough to enter just the APN name. There is the Authentication method, which may be None, PAP or CHAP. PAP and CHAP require you to set a username and password. However the username and password is often just a blank. Setting an authentication method with a blank username and password is not the same as setting the Authentication to None.

The following link may help but also scroll down and read the comments, it would seem that the data service availability can vary with some devices working perfectly whilst roaming in òne country but then not working in an adjacent country but the same sim working in a different device, i'm not sure what the answer would be in that case except change provider perhaps.

That looks useful thank you

Incidentally how do folk stop their device connecting to a non EU roaming country.

I'm specifically thinking of an upcoming river cruise starting in Basel (Switzerland) but the French border is a half mile riverside stroll.
