How to track progress of new campervan (deposit paid)

Our Morelo had a build number, my name and the name of the dealer on a placard attached to the van as it moved through the factory. So firstly ask your dealer for its factory build number. I have no idea who your manufacturer is however if google around you may get the name and email of the international sales manager and write to him/her enquiring on progress and ask for some pictures. Maybe you will hit a wall, but maybe not. Good luck.
Yes Bailey do the same you even get the vin number ,still gave to wait 7 months 😁

Enjoy your stay at Cornish Farm Vanbitz is one of those companies you know you are buying a great product from. Are you having a fixed or removable tow bar? I have Brink on the Hymer and use Westafalia on other vehicles. As you say not cheap but its proper stuff.

Won’t be staying over as we only live about 30 miles away. If I can get everything done we want to do, then the alarm is the final piece of work........couple of days later we’re off to Germany, via our son’s home in the Netherlands. (y)

Great news.......our van is at the Dealers, as per the information given to us 3 weeks after our order was placed, back in January. With all that’s been going on this year, I’m amazed the timetable stayed on track. (y)

We can’t get up to see it and discuss locations for extras etc until 15th.

Pencilled in 7th September for collection. :giggle:
I'm also surprised yours wasn't delayed much. My Sunlight PVC was ordered in November with delivery forecast this May but was delayed 2-3 months due to Covid, ie for delivery this month.

I'm told it's build has slipped a few more weeks but is now scheduled to complete next week and the van should arrive at the UK dealer the following week. 🤞

Out of curiosity which MH are you getting?

Just lighthearted banter sorry .
I don’t think you need to apologise , you were just imparting info that other manufacturers have a build tracking system , i for one thank you for the info , cheers .

Sunlight Cliff 600. I see from your avatar you went for the Special Edition XV? Not seen many of the Cliff Range about.

We ordered ours in silver, all three packs plus lots of other stuff both factory fitted and dealer accessories.

Getting mine from a dealer 3 hours away as they gave me a far better deal than my local dealer. (y)

That's interesting, the factory seems to have produced yours quicker than mine. Ours is not to reason why... but me changing my order to the Maxi chassis couldn't have helped.

FWIW I have only seen one XV special edition in the metal and being black paint it looked pretty grubby 🙄

Black would have been my last choice if I'd had a choice (what with the way they show the dirt and the way it'll likely heat up in the summer) but I was seduced by the bundled extras. Whether I'll value them remains to be seen.

Good luck with your new van and maybe keep in touch with your experience.

Thanks, and I will. (y)

Is there a way I can actually track the progress of the new build? Is this lack of customer service usual?

I'm not sure there is in all honesty.

I access the German Globecar/Possl Forum every day and there is a 67-page thread running now on how the members are waiting on their new PVC orders without any success.

Dozens and dozens of them are having the same problem where they phone their dealers constantly for a delivery date but still nothing comes. There are guys on the forum who were supposed to take delivery in January and Feb this year but still no update and where the dealers can't establish a delivery date from Possl etc.

There's also quite a few enquiries where people want to proceed down the order cancellation route as they are having no luck in establishing their respective dates and now feel quite pi$$ed off.

There's also a number of cases recently where new vans just suddenly appear at the dealers and the customer is told "will next Tuesday be OK for collection Mr Schmidt".

......plus the 'supply of parts issue' and the fact that the supply chains have sometimes ran out of key components like sky windows and lighting systems etc.

If there is any form of tracking then I'm not seeing it.

All the best,

Andrew

The German site makes interesting reading
I think the Globecars are a great van but like all builders there are issues
Trying to get any info from the factory's being one
They have three different sites which probably doesn't help

Just to recap.....deal negotiated in January, £500 deposit paid. 3 weeks later, once ordered confirmed by Sunlight, a further £3500 as the remainder of the full deposit.

Dealer informed me the projected date for delivery to them was week starting 3rd August.

Covid........Dealer informed us Dealership closed, but dropped us an email ever now and again.

When the Dealership reopened we were told there may be a 3 week delay. Shortly after that a call to say they had been told by Sunlight the delivery date was still on for the week starting 3rd August.

Email last week from dealer to say van had left factory.

Email from dealer at 10pm Tuesday 4th August, ‘your van will be with us tomorrow’. Wednesday 9.30am I rang to arrange to see it before extra’s put on.......’That’s fine, I’m looking at it through the window now’.

Going into the dealers Saturday 15th to check it over, pick up pencilled in for Monday 7th September.

With all that has been going on this year, I’m astounded how this has gone. Hopefully the rest of the purchase procedure will go as well. :giggle:
