I have what appears to be a twin camera rear camera setup. Two cameras, two cables, one monitor. However, I can only get one video feed on the monitor, which is the reversing camera feed, that goes live when I select reverse gear. I cannot get a feed off the permanent rear view camera. I'm wondering if there is some clever combination of buttons to get the permanent camera feed? I've uploaded a shot of the monitor, but it looks pretty generic. I bought the van like this and it has never worked. Anyone any clues?

Your probably need to connect a perminant live to the trigger input so the monitor is on all the time.
I expect its been wired to the reversing light circuit so it only comes on when reverse has been selected.

What's the trigger input? Would that be the live supply to the reversing light?

Just a thought as on my monitor for two rear view cameras no1 for reversing into parking bays no 2 for what is behind my towed trailer = A switch is on the monitor face for either camera.

Does your monitor look anything like mine? I've tried all the buttons. None of them switches to the other feed. I was wondering whether it might be a combination of two buttons, but it might need a change to the wiring as Lenny HB suggested.

That looks like the monitor on a Pilote. If it is, I seem to remember that you can select the rear view camera to be on all of the time and it is interrupted when you put into reverse and the downward camera displays. My memory is a bit vague on how you do this but is it something to do with the settings selected by the monitor buttons?

I'm sure another Pilote owner will clarify, if you ask

I'll get back to you in a month or two once I've learnt Norwegian. 🙄

Cheers, Lenny. Would I be able to pick that up in the vicinity of the dashboard?
Depends how's it's been wired probably in the fuse box.
I was thinking if you disconnected it and then connected a perminant 12v the monitor should stay on.

But would it switch to the right camera when I select reverse? Or do I need to get hold of someone who actually knows what they are doing. Because I certainly don't. 🙂

How many feeds are here going into the monitor, just because there’s two cameras on the rear doesn’t mean they both feed to the montor.

Usually if they are wired correctly the back vision is on all the time until you select reverse then it switches the feed to the down pointing one.

Well, exactly. That's what I'm trying to get to. To pick up on your other post, I don't know. Both cameras have cable emerging from their housing. Obviously I can't be sure as to whether or not they eventually arrive at the monitor. At some point, I guess I'll have to do some continuity testing. But I was hoping it might just be a question of telling the monitor to behave differently.

No you would have to select each camera.
Probably need someone who knows what they are doing.

Have you tried swapping the camera inputs over to make sure the other camera it working.

Don't know what happened there🥴 I got a pdf copy of the manual when I used the link. I've saved a pdf copy of the manual and attached it below.
Cheers. Will take a look. 🙂

Not tried that. No visible connectors to swap over. I'd have to open up the camera housings and swap over the wiring. It may come to that. Trying to rule out the easy stuff first.

Should be some connections near the monitor probably under the dash probably phono plugs.
I really hate it when someone says "probably under the dash".............

If you chase the feeds from the rear of the monitor they will join to the feed from camera, if you lucky they just need swapping.

You don’t have any leccy to camera two. Camera one gets its leccy when reverse is selected.
I wired mine up full time and used it as a rear view mirror/camera.

Yup. That's what I'm trying to do. 🙂. But how? I've got a cable leaving each camera but only 1 entering the monitor. Somewhere the 2 camera cables are merged into 1 before reaching the monitor.

Must be a switch box somewhere before pulling the van apart to find I would check both cameras are working.
May be difficult but if the connections from the cameras phono plugs you can get video to USB converters on ebay for a few quid the you can connect to a laptop. If the cameras plug into a a Waco lead or 4 pin lead you can get converters to phono from Reversing Cameras UK.

These have male phono's so you will probably need a female/female adaptor connector as well.

Good thinking. I just have to find the camera connectors now. That will probably involve pulling the van apart anyway. 😆
