How to power my coffee machine?

Hi just a little bit of advice really, if your drawing down on an inverter to run a coffee machine or similar you would be far better having a fixed inverter with a minimum of 1000w. Anything smaller will continually trip when using anything with an heating element. Also you would need to be topping up on a regular basis with solar or running your engine.
Good luck

We have used the Tassimo/Bosch coffee machines for years in our camper. It is 1300w 230v. The only inverter to cope with this has been a 3000w 6000w peak, Sine wave. This will draw 120amps, so your battery bank had better be big enough to cope. The draw is not for long, but 120amps is a hefty current.

Also bear in mind for those with a Lithium Battery who want to use on of these coffee machines ... the typical 100Ah Unit will have a maximum of 100A draw so any inverter of around 1000W or greater is likely to hit that limit once you factor in the inefficiencies.

PS. 3000W Inverter will draw a hell of a lot more than 120A if you are using it to its capabilites. I used to use a 2000W Induction Hob in my last conversion, powered by a Victron 12/3000 Multiplus, so a 2400W inverter, and I would be pulling over 200A when cooking or boiling a kettle.

Try an aeropress (think that's what Niall was suggesting).

Not quite as good as nespresso IMO, but it's quite a popular and they even have championships in coffee making with them.

Agreed. A 3000w inverter can pull a lot more. Sensible use is imperative to avoid draining your batteries in no time. I’ve always found it amazing that only the 3000w sine wave inverter would drive our coffee machine which is only 1300w. The none sine wave inverters just made the coffee machine have a complete fit. Wouldn’t even turn on properly.
A lot to think about. Will need a cup of tea after all that, 😂😂😂

Got a coffee machine in your Motorhome, need a good hot coffee in the morning. If you have a tow bar here is your answer:- light to tow, no inverter needed, hot coffee whenever, ear defenders included. (spare sets for nearby campers can be supplied at extra cost)

I have 2 bialetti and a 2 insulated caffitierres, different sizes, for what and when we fancy a coffee and a hand grinder but we are mostly off grid and I do like a stronger cup in the morning:giggle:

We have 200 amps lithium, a Victron 12/2000/80 inverter charger. Our Tassimo coffee machine will draw up to a peak of 170 amps during its cycle. If you are going to get an inverter get one rated at twice what you think you may need to cover start up surges and inefficienc.

Forget the remote, it will probably switch the 230v side so the battery is still being drained slightly when idle.
230v and a couple of amps is easy to switch but 12v and 100a+
Will need a very big switching relay.

Forget the changeover switch and fit an auto changeover unit.
More expensive but no chance of forgetting to switch between inverter and hookup.

2 x 100amp lithium (150amp max) and a 2000w NDS pure sine inverter, copes easily with nespresso , induction hob, hairdryer, straighteners, bike batteries even roof aircon, obviously one at a time! Fantastic kit, thank you Roadpro!!

The remote completely turns the inverter off so saves fumbling about and it also shows battery state etc so would get one.
