How to make your MH last forever !!

Use it regularly and it will last. Leave it standing and it will get 'Sleepy Van Syndrome'

At my last mot the tester told me the brake lines were not corroded, but the plastic coating on them had deterioration in places.
He suggested greasing them, then I read it's an advisory on future MOT's. "Brake lines not available for inspection due to grease covering"
So I left them.
Have you had a problem ?
I spray all the pipes, chassis members etc with waxoil, works a treat and does not cover in a thick layer.

I’m interested to know what people do to make your motorhomes last a long time, also what’s the longest you have kept one for?
Use it don’t have it hanging around for months on end. Worth undersealing too.

Maybe a little extreme for some but should pay dividends over the years.
Chassis also undersealed in and out.
Previous MH was a 04 Fiat bought at 10 years old - found a few shockers on that one - so the new one got the works done!

I swear by using a good quality cover

Hiya Peter,
I think a cover would be a good idea but have never had one, do they make "rub" marks anywhere?

Talking about covers I was out walking the other day and walked past a reasonably new caravan that someone had put one of those flat roof (felt roof) style sheets onto the roof. They had done a very tidy job of it (wish I had taken a photo), made me wonder why more people don't put some sort of extra layer over the top of our MH's when you consider how many leaks (and water damage) we hear about.

When I travel in a MH I always want to stick a layer of astroturf or something similar to the roof so that it's not so noisy in the rain (noise is my pet peeve), I'm sure it would deaden the rain noise and add an extra layer of protection to the MH.

I think my choice woukd be the best protection. Cool cats where did you buy your CSP fluid at £19.99?

Oddly, I change motorhomes when I am bored with them
When all the jobs and mods are done it might as well be a delivery van for all the appeal it has..
Fortunately, after about 6 years or so I am still finding stuff to fiddle with in our current one
So as long as there is something to play with / fix, I will keep a van
Exactly how I feel. I've never found any lack of stuff that needs improving (or more often re-doing properly because it wasn't done correctly in the first place).
