How to get into a Calpe/Altea/Benidorm campsite/park?

I hope this isn’t hijacking this thread but here goes. We aren’t looking for space on any of the big sites in this area and I’ve seen details of Camping Santa Clara at Partida Cap Blanch. Not sure if my logic is right here as I’m thinking that it may be less popular - does anyone know if this site is busy at the moment.

Problem seems to be to many caravans and to many tow cars on trailers taking up two or three pitches .

It is frustrating when sites allow reasonable pitches to be used to park tow cars, we only have a 6m van so don’t need a large pitch. The site we’re currently on, where we’re squeezed into a corner, has several very nice spots taken by cars. (Not sure I’d go so far as to say there are too many caravans, though!)

I don't know the current situation but we tried when we were in Altea a couple of weeks ago and there was some space for reasonable sized vans. We are 8.7M so we couldn't get in. It's easy to miss the turning off the main drag, by the way..it's a turning off the slip road before the main junction. Good luck

Ok.I will rephrase my comment ..SO many caravans with big awnings and a car taking up 2 pitches. .....

My cunning plan to visit Santa Clara failed - they were full today. Currently at Bigastro debating whether to take another stab at finding a coastal pitch. I guess we’re limiting ourselves by only wanting to stay on campsites. Does anyone know of decent places available on the coast between Denia and Cartagena?

So we flew back last week, but can recommend a lovely campsite on the beach near Cartagena which will have space.

It is Camping El Portus, and it is in the ACSI discount scheme and charges 20 euro including hook-up.

Oh and I should perhaps mention it is a naturist resort. ;) (y)

Go south, it is warmer there. Full but warmer.
