:worried:ok, so we have to wait till june..........till we get the van, needless to say im impatient, driving the good lady (jayne) mad, buying some necessities (:whatthe:)on the bay of evilness and generally stressing......
so in order to maintain some sanity meantime, does anyone have any suggestions.......:crying1:

please?............

I didn't realise it was possible to spend £20k on extras :whatthe:
We only spent €15k now if we had gone for alloys, silver paint, awning & winter pack with Alde heating that would have added another €9k

The bits I'm fitting myself saves around €4k (costing me £2k), so could have easily spent over €30k (£26):)

Try getting the Fiat 3 litre engine, auto gearbox and Alko maxi chassis, then add the grey paint, awning, Alde Arktis pack, comfort pack, Tec Tower, leather, premium table, 16" alloys, safe, BBQ point, additional power sockets and several other "bits and bobs". And all at Hymer prices! And that doesn't include the Kenwood stereo the dealer fitted with truck/motorhome sat nav, DAB and FM/AM radio, twin reversing cameras and DVD, which would have been another £2k+ at Hymer prices, but a lot less in reality.

Most of it was stuff I would have liked if I was speccing myself but would have decided that I couldn't afford! Just lucky to find a motorhome we really liked and at a very good price.

I'm keeping my milage low and, since i'm part exchanging for a low amount am keeping habitation maintenance to a minimum. However has to reseal a roof window thingy, reseal/reattach a water pipe & my mot had an extra £480 added to the cost!!! (Welding needed)

All of this while waiting for the van.

However, the good thing about waiting this long has been the ability to see the van at alot of motorhome shows this year so i've had the opportunity to really fine tune exactly what i want & move things around to where i want them to be!

At the last show i went to (the nec), i had another look and double checked with myself so i was sure what i'd planned is exactly what i want.

At one show i was that anal that i went over the rear view cameras, lpg gauge, satnav, dab digital radio, etc.

At another show i got all the 'lock m out' bits for the new van. The 'lock m out' woman visited the wildax area with me & went ghrough all yhe windows to make sure i had the right set.

I was also pretty sad & sat in the drivers seat.

I went to loads of shows last year where wildax attended. I've even measured the stove & kitchen area cupboard to make sure my coking pot fitted.

I've measured the wardrobe so i know the hanger size (kids 30cm, btw) and even grabbed a pack of 6 eggs so i'd get a better idea of their fridge.

Although i've not actually driven it, i know the innards inside out!!

So, in a nutshell, my to do's while waiting were/are to get to know the model inside and out by visiting motorhome shows, keeping maintenance & driving to a minimum.

We're very close to ordering a new one and trading in the old. I suspect I'm being over-optimistic to think that a November order will result in a March delivery, which is a pity as the holiday's scheduled for late March. Ho hum.

Also - watch out for the Vehicle Excise Duty hike in April 2017. Taxing and registering your new vehicle before then could save you a few hundred for extras and gadgets :)

Especially significant is the leap in first year VED bands from £200 to £500 if your engine's CO2 emissions exceed 150 g/CO2/km.

Guess which emission level virtually all the latest Fiat Ducato engines exceed?

Are you SURE the dealer is paying it ... a lot will just add it to your invoice!

Twin twin reversing camera, a couple of solar panels, stereo with satnav, sat dish, tv, inverter, possibly a 3rd battery, additional 12v & USB outlets, dash cam (permantly wired) Etc. That's only the bits I can think of at the moment.
How about a decent fridge ?

Surely an "on the road" price means exactly that, everything paid

I am afraid that I am simply too impatient to ever order a new motorhome without seeing it and being able to have it straight away. Bought my new one off the dealers forecourt. We could see exactly what we were getting and could have it in the 2 weeks it took to register it with the DVLA. Had been hanging around for a while because it had been over specced by the dealer - over £20k "worth" of factory fit extras. Effectively got them for nearly nowt.

So would I be. I'd be concerned that I'd die before it turned up.:(

No change in VED for Motorhomes unless the emissions are on the C of C which they shouldn't be.
Even with that I thought you'd still be caught by the "luxury vehicle over 40k " Part ?

The above link relates only to 'Cars' and doesn't mention any other types of vehicle. Am I being over optimistic to believe motorhomes will not be affected ?

As soon as Christmas and New Year are out of the way I'll spend some time choosing between the Clubs on offer, join one and devour their literature/web site from front to back and back again ;)

Then the 2nd week in January I'll probably join the other one! (y)

I just spend my time on here reading and hopefully learning, most of the questions I've had have been dealt with before so I get to read some long threads.
Once you get past Christmas your delivery date will feel a lot closer. We are members of the CC and get their monthly magazine which i read from cover to cover, not very much to for the motorhomer but, lots of info about their sites.
