Early 30s I think...... not really a conscious decision, we bought a mini-bus (4 kids plus kayaks) and as the seats in the back of the bus swiveled reclined we started to carry a table - then the cooker got put behind the rear row of seats. there were already curtains fitted. After a couple of years we bought an old Hymer. Then circumstances changed and we had to sell (house move due to work and nowhere local to keep a huge motorhome back then) so we were without for around 10 years. Kids left home and we have now got Buffy..... and a grandson who we can kidnap.

This weekend we are going to exchange him for the new kayak .. and swap back whilst we go for a rest in The Lakes then we will have him again the following weekend. :)

Since we retired we have had to keep an appointments diary!

Where's the time gone, oh to be back then, knowing what we know now.

18.
me and the then boyfriend had a little grey minivan with a mattress, bucket, two burner camp stove and a kettle..
there was no insulation whatever and every morning we woke up to condensation dripping down on us from the roof, but did we mind, no way, it was fun, an adventure and better than the tent that always used to attract ants and other creepy crawlies due to an unfortunate incident with an opened tin of sticky condensed milk..
we parted three years later, then got my next van, not so mini, (converted lwb renault trafic van) when i was 63 i think it was, to give the last bf some motorhome adventures..
and when we parted, gave that van to my daughter and bought a citroen relay van and had that converted just for me.. :)

30 & 34 1st caravan - took FIL to NEC to look for a camper for his retirement, we came back with ex demo sprite musketeer £4,100.
36 & 40 first motorhome. Caravans in between. Motorhome again 56 & 60.

my first motorhome trips away were aged 4 or 5. bought my own "camper" aged 18 and owned who knows how many since plus caravans
when first married in my early 20s, I started buying older vans, then foreign vans to do up, use and sell at a profit. sometimes changed vans every week or two. often owning 3 or more at any time
still do that to a smaller extent now, just for fun
up until recently we were away in the van every weekend march to November plus a few weeks touring in the summer

iwas 19 and toured spain in a minivan , every thing needed in the back, for camping,(y)
