How ******* much! ?

We have been with Comfort since we bought our first Motorhome. Looked at the CAMC insurance this time and that was half as much again.
Yet for me CAMC was 1/3 of Comfort price Then LV was 2/3 of CAMC. If it's based on risk, they can't all be right.

If you go with LV make sure you get adequate windscreen cover and get it in writing. There is another thread about them paying out paltry sums for windscreens.

Our renewal with Comfort was £137 less than last year. We changed motorhomes mid year last year and the new one has a Tracker and Vanbitz alarm. The old one, (only 15 months old but a disaster for us), only had a tracker. Still, it seemed a very reasonable deal to me.

I am 74 hrs old with a claim 4 years ago.

I have gone with LV and I don't see how I can get them to increase whatever cover they give on windscreens. I will look for that thread though.

I think it's something like 600 quid your screen alone without fitting is £2054 + VAT.

It's that time again and thought I'd give Comfort another shot before trying the CAMC (who cost me £396 last year).

Comfort want £1,082.82.

What I can't understand is the very short questionnaire that didn't even ask how much no claims discount I had.# before arriving at this figure.
Ive never owned a motorhome until now and Adrian Flux quoted £287.00 including breakdown. Couldnt beleive it.

Only thing is, he didn't ask the motorhome type or value, just 2.3 fiat. Also didn't ask about security or tracker. It's funny how some factors mean everything to one company and another firm is not interested.
Yes same here they don’t seem concerned about those things and give a good price😊👍👍

This is a paragraph from my policy:

Windscreen and window glass - you're covered for damage to the windscreen or window glass including sun-roofs. ADAS recalibration costs and any resultant scratching of the bodywork. We may use a suitable replacement not supplied by the original manufacturer but it will be of a similar quality. Your premium may increase following a claim, but as long as there's no other loss or damage - your NCD won't be affected.
We won't pay more than the market value of your car or repair or replace any windscreens or windows not made of glass.

Lenny there was a thread running about this recently and is if you insure through a different Company LV (Highway)
You have to go directly to LV= 👍

Don't like that bit.
it's the same with all insurances, even with protected no claims bonus. You make a claim and they raise your insurance next year. My first motorhome, a hymer, had the awning go over the top in a sudden hail storm in Prague. I claimed for the awning, but not all the hail dents as I assumed nothing could be done with them. Had I known that I would repay the awning cost in increased premiums over the next 5 years I would haave claimed for the lot.

Not normally with windscreen claims.

My windscreen on my car was damaged in Germany in 2016. My UK Insurance company wanted me to use the German equivalent of Autoglass. However, for some reason they couldn’t get it sorted for more than a week. 🤷‍♂️

Only way I could get it repaired was via a Peugeot garage, who could get it sorted in 3 days. My Insurance company said take it there, I had to pay the garage as they didn’t have a contract with them, and I was refunded once I sent off the receipt.

I was able to get the tax knocked off, so that saved the Insurance company a few hundred Euros, but the exchange rate when they converted the Euro’s to pound’s meant I lost out, and the following year my premium went up £100….so I went elsewhere…..still having to declare it for 5 years of course.

Spoke to CAMC they don't usually give renewals until about 16 days beforehand which would be 3 days before my ferry crossing.

Thanks Speve. Would not have thought about LV for motorhome cover but I've got it now with LV for £245 with an option of £53 for UK/EU breakdown which I'm looking into. As both our cars are with LV I've got a discount for multicover.
I am with LV this year,,£220.

But aren't Comfort simply a broker and it's the insurers they use who lay down terms?
Yes, they are the broker for Aviva. If you try MH insurance directly with Aviva they simply redirect you to Comfort. My policy with them went down and is £412 including breakdown and a 15% claim loading. Their claim and breakdown performance has been very good for me.

Have a look at reviews of them and people’s experiences with claims…one reason why I switched to Comfort several years ago

Yeah but they quoted me £1080 That's twice They've quoted me rediculous. Don't know why.

I contacted Comfort for a quote about a month ago (mentioned it on an earlier thread). Spoke to a women whom was quite abrupt and said I was filling in an online request at the time I was talking with her. I 100% was not filling in a request, very rarely do I bother with these because at the end of it a message generally appears saying ring us on this number.

Anyway, the outcome was they couldn’t insure me because it was kept in a locked barn apparently on a working farm. It hasn’t been a working farm for around 25yrs and have stored motorhomes here for the last 15yrs safely and no problem with insurance quotes.

A week later I got a call from a lady at Comfort asking if they could give me a quote. Very strange I thought but hey let’s give it a go.
Quoted me £383 including European breakdown cover. Cheaper excess and 1k more miles than my £515 Caravan Guard renewal.

I did ring Caravan Guard up before getting the quote from Comfort and asked if there was anything they could do, just got a “has anything changed in the last 12 months” to which my reply was no.
Well that’s the price and put the phone down.
I was so pleased when Comfort rang me back 👍👍

I only insured 3 weeks ago , CAMC we’re the best for me . 71k motorhome at 5000 miles a year ( although I might have to up that) tracker and van bitz alarm got me £250 off the standard insurance with no tracker etc. I paid £300 and that was with extra legal cover.

Give Adrian Flux a try. They are a broker operating out of Norfolk. They specialise in bikes, classic cars, campers and motorhomes. I’ve insured various vehicles with them including my current campervan. Great service and always competitive.

Our Comfort insurance went up a huge amount this year £2.09
£394 for 8000 miles plus £65 for breakdown cover.
Ours was about the same as Lenny HB no issues here. Got the insurance in March this year.

Forgot to add.
I have 18yrs no claims on the Motorhome policy which equates to the 9+ maximum.
Comfort told me they don’t take NCB into account and do not give a NCB each year.

I was told to send in proof by email of my NCB from previous insurers so if I was to change insurers further down the line they would provide me with the proof otherwise the NCB would lapse.

We are squeaky clean with a reasonable post code. Got a UK Quote for my car (Range Rover) just is two. £1,000 . 4,000 miles a year limit.

I’ve insured it in Spain, better cover than the UK PROVIDERS. €600 any driver 25-70 years old. Unlimited mileage .
Hello, I’m just taking a car to leave at a villa in Spain who did you insure with.
Thank You.
