HOW MUCH? New Combi heater needed...

It appears parts are no longer available for my non working Trumatic C-Heater water/air heating thingy...

A replacement is going to be in the region of €3000 (fitted)...

Do I have any other options?

What do you lot think...

I'm getting a tad smelly...

Sounds about right!
I had a new one maybe five years ago and it was £2500.

If you are handy, how about a Chinese diesel water heater?
Best of many worlds. Or mega Solar?

Sounds about right I’m afraid, I enquired when buying our MH as I knew the boiler was obsolete. I was told £2500 ish but luckily ours has been fine so far.

The propex 10Ltr 240V heater is the cheapest option if you have enough solar/battery which I seem to recall you had recently upgraded? Around €200.

Takes half an hour and 800watts of 240V to heat up to maximum. So 400Wh or there abouts. With decent solar, LiFePO4 and an inverter it should be doable in your location?
Also can easily be used off a 2KW generator, I presume you still have one of those really noisy yellow ones.

My truma combi has just given up, with no spares available, I’ve replaced it with combi4e bought from Jackson’s for £1350 did the install myself, then has a gas man check it. Did take 3 days as all the pipes needed moving.

Since my original post I have had some hard core "Under The Oak Tree" thinking time and, at this moment, will probably go for purchasing a new unit fitted by the supplier.

I am far too inflexible to do any work myself so reckon I will just press some buttons on my Revolut app, roll up to the Silves site at the correct time, and end up with hot water and heating (under guarantee) fitted in a day.

A €20 fan heater can do that

Providing the piping is installed exactly the same as a Truma Combi.

No, the room heater is separate, it's just a water heater.

Most stuff for motorhomes are specialist and expensive - you need a water heater and blown air heating.
If you can avoid motorhome specific stuff it's got to be worth thinking about.
Solar and batteries might be the answer

Totally agree I have a 10 litre propex fitted in a van conversion was a brilliant when doing a long tour of France. As I was using a fair few camping car parks. Used hardly any gas. And they seem well made units

Well yes what I meant was I was on sites with 240v hook up anyway. And for a couple of hundred quid I think it's a good little unit to have

Okay Folks...

I have slept on it and have decided to order a new Truma Combi 4 (E) unit which will fit into the van in place of the existing heater with all it's pipes and fittings.

Ingo of Camping Technik Algarve will supply and fit the unit. They also supplied and fitted my rooftop aircon, added more solar on the roof, fitted a new Electroblock and fixed my fridge last year so obviously I am happy with their work.

I thought about (only briefly) going down alternative roots but in the end have decided to go for the quickest, most convenient choice.

After all, it's only money and what price for comfort and convenience in my old age?

I plan to keep you all informed of progress with the project.
