How much have you spent....

Got the dealer to add in a few things as part of the deal. - gaslow and a tracker alarm and to up plate it. So for them free - we’ll free ish

But added an extra battery and upgraded the solar controller. Bought a TV. As it is our first van also kitting it out with bedding, kitchen stuff etc the boss says it’s better stuff than the home has 😳😳😳. Well she is right.

Now just added a tow bar and agreed to buy a scooter and trailer which am picking up this weekend. But also bought an EcoFlow delta 2 plus solar panel at about £750

So over all have probably spent around £7K

Much of it is transferable. Just booked tickets and hotel for the NEC show in October to have a look at what’s available. Just out of interest.

Vanbitz growler
Labour costs for EGR/DPF, Comformatic gearbox repair
All habitation checks and mechanical servicing
Various accessories, ha........ not all used
Looking at £6k upwards

About £4k. Towbar and rear air, 2nd hand spare wheel, 2nd solar panel and LiFePo batteries at Offgrid Solutions. Nothing we didn't need (is what i tell her)

There is no way I am going to add up the cost of extras but enough for the time being. Although ......

Which camera is this?
Any cheapo reversing camera from ebay, you can spend more though if you want, the one I looked at has lights

2003 Euramobil, apart from service and replacement parts, £30 on a roll of chequerplate lino for the garage floor. Had it 8 years.

New to me 2016 Swift 649 , £200 on Cello TV's, £50 on seat covers. Oh, and i found a Safari room local cheap.
As for anything else, Its got what its got, and if it hasnt got it, it hasnt got it.

As with most of the vehicles on the fleet, they just need to work, for what some folk spend on 'upgrades' i can buy another toy.

And when it comes to spending £1000, i would rather do a trip , than buy add ons.

Each to their own.

Bought wisely spent nothing and expect to see my money back when I sell
Didn't load it up with a load of hardly use extras.
Understand some people treat it as hobby / dolly house

when we bought our van we had all the stuff on it that we would normally have paid to have added if we bought it-
Full air
Self Levelling
Lithium
Solar
Alloys
Electric Awning

But, I couldn't help justifying the additionals that we then needed to do-
Tow bar- in case we need towing out of somewhere backwards, not likely to be used for anything else £1k
WIFI - Fitted meself- £400
Ceramic coating- £1100ish

So not too bad compared to my last van where I spent about 9k and owened it for 6 months

Sometimes it’s best not to think too much about certain things and certainly not a good idea to start tallying up. We have owned 16 motorhomes and it scares me to think how much we have spent on extras and “must haves” ironically some mods have been completed and in a few months later the next “dream van” appears, this has happened more times than I care to remember. So, no calculations from me. It is however part of the fun looking and upgrading and tinkering, I love it.

I daren’t add anything up😳😳😳
I was going to put that yes we have spent lots😁, but probably not as much as Ady, with his “ urban overlander” 👍
But as I keep telling myself- you can’t take it with you- so why not💰💰

A few years ago, I bought my Renault Master, LWB and extra-high top, for £50.
I spent a day making it into a tin tent for £30.
Recently did the usual Hipster electrics, lithium/solar/B2B/inverter, for £750.
And bought a £2000 bike to keep in it - priorities!

VW Camper.

H7 headlights (twice).
Suspension.
Towbar and Towbox.
Vanshades for rear windows.
Water tanks.
Lithium, B2B and mains charger plus Inverter.

Possibly £6.5k or so.

Can't think of anything else we would do to the van.
