How much clothing do you take on a trip.

Older undies and socks that have reached their use by date

Wear once and bin..no washing

Then way more undies and socks than I need More coats than I need and depending on the trip length time if year for the rest

If it off grid over night dry weather a change of clothes
I always collect a bag of tatty undies over the year to wear and chuck when we go on our big tours when we do a few long travelling days in a row.

Otherwise I do still seem to pack too much. I don’t seem to learn. Still end up wearing the favourites and come back with some stuff unworn.

Just think what your mother would say if you were in an accident wearing those underclothes!

Took me years to convince my mother to do it, she soon did the same for father
Not sure she told him though

I'm with my idol Johhny on this one....

# Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt #

So one only needs max of 2 of everything.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great line but (pedant alert) Kris K deserves the credit surely

Well I live in my motorhome so I'm not sure I want to list all mine lol. But wardrobe and 5 overhead lockers store my clothes lol . I definitely have too many but I do have to carry clothes for all seasons. ... and I'm always ruining clothes between crawling under motors and flippin dugs

We've got room to store a reasonable amount of clothing, so tend to take too much, for choice. By the end of any trip you realise you could have left have of it behind.

Me: Two over head lockers.
Her:Three overhead lockers, the wardrobe, a large box in the garage and the entire shoe locker.

I tend to take enough stuff to stretch to two weeks without needing to do laundry.

I also take clothing for the unexpected.
June this year in Spain. We had snow.
Unlike everyone else, we had some suitable clothing.

4 t shirts..4 pairs shorts..light fleece..1 pair tracker bottoms..pair Croks and a pair of Slip in Sketchers..plus 12 pairs of nickers..Job done for 3 months in Europe..BUSBY.

What about your ball gowns and dancing shoes, tiara?
They hang in the shower, along with the 8 dresses (just in case )....then they come out at the end of the 4, 6, 10 or 12 week trip, usually unused
SWMBO still hasn't got out of the 5 star hotel mode & fully adjusted to MoHo living, even after 5 years 😖

Wife has more undies than me, ( different undies for different occasions?) but never needed to wear any of hers ! Yet !
As I read this I was wondering whether Mrs Jays2 would be a bit miffed about you telling the world (well, MHF) that she never wears any of her underwear... and then I re-read it the way I think you meant it!

You only need one spare sock - just wash one per day and cycle between feet.

One spare underware

One spare shirt and trousers

Thats about it…

You wear underwear for two days?

From years of touring Europe on a motorbike, you throw your pants against a wall every morning
Until they stick, then it’s time to put a fresh pair on. (y)

I’m with SpeedyDux and cos I’m still working so only get away for two weeks max so I always pack enough underwear and t shirts for 1 per day plus a couple of spares!
When we retire we will be taking the washing machine with us👍
But Mrs Westy says I always take too many clothes 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️👍
Why not make an offer for Lenny HB's seeing as he's not got the 'capacity' to carry it any more! :giggle:

And the related question, how many of the clothes you take do you end up wearing?
Me: 90%
My wife: 33%?
Ah, but, that's because, like my hubby, you're a mucky pup so get through more of them!

Happiness is bringing enough undergarments to last the whole trip. :giggle:
Definitely ... we usually do 60 days away max and take 63 pairs with us (each I hasten to add!) ... better things to do on holiday than mess about doing washing!

... and I'm always ruining clothes between crawling under motors and flippin dugs
Is that similar to flipping pancakes?

We are a bit more restricted with our MH compared to some as I adapted the wardrobe (under the bed type) as I put a shelf in it so is used to keep the pans, a bit of food etc at the top with shoes at the bottom, so we only have the rear upper lockers for our clothes, half each, so no ballgowns for either of us! :giggle:

We take clothes for all occasions as we can be going through freezing weather for a while whilst traveling down/up through France to/from Spain where it can then be a fair bit warmer (hopefully!) so different clothes are needed. In addition I also have the clothes I use when kayaking which hubby doesn't need as he doesn't kayak.

Hubby wears a lot more of his than I do (as I said before, he's a mucky pup and forever spilling food etc on stuff) however his do take up more room, type for type, than mine as his clothes are larger sized so bulkier ... especially his pants and socks!

Is there something about yourself you haven't told us?

Myself - being minimalist - tend to just pack enough for the time away. For a 10 day trip, or longer, say:
5 T-shirts (it's going to be nice weather obviously)...I wear each T-shirt for 2 days before washing.
Ditto underwear and socks.
2 pairs of jeans/trousers, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 towels, 2 pairs of footwear, 1 sweatshirt (just in case)
1 lightweight and 1 waterproof jacket.
That's about it. I do shower every day.

I recently went on holiday for the first time with an old friend. He could have filled a steamer trunk with all the clothes he insisted on taking. How I found the space for it all I'll never know.
We are Naturists 🙄
So not much 😂

Always took more clothes when we were restricted to 2 -3 weeks. With shorter holidays it was a shame to waste the time washing. Now with more freedom to have 6 - 7 week hols. we have to do washing and use the dryers so in theory take less clothes. However, I do find I use and wash some things more and don't wear the others. Still don't learn from experience though.

We now go on cruises where there is no limit on luggage!
On a 2 week cruise it is normally 4 large suitcases plus a cabin sized case we carry on board ourselves with all our medication and other essentials. Our next cruise in January is from Southampton to the Caribbean and back over 5 weeks so most likely there will be at least 5 and possibly 6 large suitcases. (Those penguin suits and ballgowns take up loads of space :xrofl::xrofl:
)

Crickey mate that’s some luggage.
The hand luggage for us is always the alcohol luggage. No limit on Cunard 🤪🤪🥳🥳

Be interested in that 5 week cruise as thinking of taking similar on QV in 26.
👍👍

We pack light, always have it’s the only way to stay Sane if you think an overhead locker of clothes than your not far out of a small flight bag.just wash the clothes as needed.

Far too much taken, far too little worn...no we aren't naturists, our clothing is mainly outdoor gear for biking and other outdoor frolicking...
As we are away for trips that require seasonal differences we take the required clothing for these times...
Nothing smart, pretty, formal or flowing just functional for the everyday living and storing in a motorhome. and when it comes to laundering, it's into the Coin- op Launderette to freshen everything up...
Even what we take could be reduced by half..

A complete change plus spares like socs and hankies. Then their is bedding.

We take enough socks and underwear for two weeks. Two sets of bedding and a laundrette every week or so. The only thing of mine in the wardrobe full of swmbo stuff is a decent shirt and pair of trousers which she insists I take, never worn yet.
Our occasional cruise is a different matter, 10 cases on the last one.
