I am unwilling to pay anything for on-site electricity because I am not on-site...

PS ...... It's as much use as a chocolate teapot if you go to ScotlandWe don't have it now so definitely not for us, we have our own solar power
We had a 40w free standing panel on our August 2014 trip to Scotland, worked for us at the Loch Rannoch campsite .PS ...... It's as much use as a chocolate teapot if you go to Scotland
I remember 2014, summer was on August 17th that year so your 40W would have worked a treatWe had a 40w free standing panel on our August 2014 trip to Scotland, worked for us at the Loch Rannoch campsite .
You're paying for use of the shower block and toilets too, do you go in regularly and turn all the showers on full blast and flush every toilet to get your money's worth
Why would anyone do that?I'd much rather pay by usage.
I hate seeing people heating huge awnings - and often not even using them.
But paying less brings extra pleasure to your holidaysWhen we are away we like everything to be comfortable, we don't go away worrying about how much it costs that would just spoil the whole experience, the cost of the pitch is what it is and we make our decision that it is worth it by using that site or not.
We are all electric, Fridge, water heater, heating if needed we use induction hobs for cooking and a remoska as our oven, lights are led apart from two corner table lamps which are low wattage.
The day we had to worry about the cost of the EHU will be the day we stop using our motorhome.
Spending less or more money has never brought me more or less pleasure. But paying less brings extra pleasure to your holidays
Inflation that is steaming down the tracks means everything is going to get more expensiveTaking the restaurant analogy a step , as a tea totaler should i pay for the upkeep of the wine cellar. I see food and drink as 2 separate services as with provision of electricity. Mains electricity is not a prerequisite to camping. Depends on your business model wihich is why you can pay £5 a night (now getting rarer) or in excess of £30.
We pull the plug on heaters in unoccupied awnings. It is in the T’s & C’s upon booking. They'll need to start charging extra soon. I've seen electric heaters full heat on in awnings when owners were away for the day.
The electric hookup is included as part of the package price of the pitch. You are not required to use it, the choice is yours. It is a bit like a hotel room package, it’s your choice whether you use the kettle and eat the biscuits or turn the telly or heating on. However human nature is to use “what you have paid for” and green or eco principles go out the window. Most sites now require you to have electric hook up even if if you don't want it I thought all the big clubs wanted to be green so why insist you have electric hook up , could it be to do with extra profit ? How much electric do you use on a sunny day ?
Talking about hotels, when on Business I cant get through all the shampoo and shower gel as its supplied for 2 people in a room so there is a small stash (maybe not that small) that makes its way into the MoHo....happy days it just ensures we have 5* showeringThe electric hookup is included as part of the package price of the pitch.
