How many would like a 2 berth only produced Motorhome ?

Just a genuine question, ours is length ways in the back , wall to wall and we get in the bottom , quite easy and it's 6 foot wide and almost 7 foot long, massive in just a normal van, if you have a walkway down each side it's going to cut a hell of a lot off your width.
We had a corner bed once which meant likes yours I had to climb over the Mrs. If I needed to, it was fun to start with !!🙄

No we don't climb over we get in the end on our own side.

OK I see where you are going
We are 4.25t max 7.94m long and originally 6 berth

the over cab bed has been stipped out it is now storage
We don't use the bed in the lounge area but have left in situ as it is useful as a day lounger
the bed is an island bed
our payload is an amazing 1.2t
that doesn't include 100kg water, 90L of Diesel, 3 110A/hr batteries, solar panel, and Sat system as we weighed the van in ready to go bare mode (no food clothes etc)

Any van that maxes at 3.5t would have to be this effective for us to switch over

I think we bought one.

Sorry, not an island bed in ours.

thought it was length that mattered 😂😂😂

Biggest problem was coming from R-V`s. The last one had a payload circa, 2tonne!. Acres of space everywhere, Flat floor front to rear, (essential with mobility issues), and a walk round queen bed over the pusher engine at the rear. When it went, ( we tried a caravan for a while but no cigar) So what we have is a a compromise and manageable, but by no means capable of being produced to any figure under 3.5t. The solution lies elsewhere.

Ideally, that would be a raising of the 3.t limit on the B licence to a more realistic figure. lifting those of us over 70 out of the C1 category.

Just bought an old Elldis Autotrail sand altered it to exactly that. The overran bed was literally headbanging ever getting ing cab so a lot was cut away the part leg we use for storage bedding in daytime extractions at night. Tuxedos pars I use for awnings and all outside clutter. Were to old to bike so. The rack is modified to take our loungers and wheel mats. Its only rated at 3.1 tonnes which I think will be enough even with the tow hitch weight of the trike

I've learnt in the short time we have been looking and bought there has to be compromise. Highly unlikely one would get a MoHo to ones 100% satisfaction..
I'm looking again now. Going dizzy with the amount of configuration's yet there is always 1 or 2 things are are not quite suited.

Well what have you bought an Elldis or a Autotrail ? As far as I remember Elldis don't make Autotrail 😉 or the other way around 😉 Did you get a Elldis Autostratus ? 😀

We saved 40kg by ordering our Carthago without the drop down bed. At 6.9m we are running it at 3500kg but we have to be very careful about payload. At 7.5m I think there is no chance.

I totally agree with wanting an increase in weight to 4.5 tonne for a B1 licence, with all the safety technology that's now on vehicles , after all the Truck is now rated to 44 tonnes (may be more but I'm out of the Motortrade now) same licence as when I got my licence at 32 Tonne

We would like a 2 berth only say 7.5 metre long Coach built 3500Kgs GVW with a good payload carrying the same stuff we carry, This I believe could be achieved by removing the overhead bed on some models , removing any 4th seats which could be removing the now popular collapsible stored seats , alter most lounges Diner space from "L" shaped to 2 Parallel benches ( and not weight saving but for comfort make the passenger and drivers seat swivel round a bit further for us to put our feet up more comfortably on to the benches , having looked at the the swivel mechanism the stop only wants moving round about an inch) , perhaps as this would reduce build costs perhaps the vehicle cost would be lower , but I won't be holding my breath !!
You forgot the garage

The only thing I can think of that's impossible is trying to cut a piece of steel with a Banana🍌
It might well be possible to cut steel with a banana if the banana was cold enough. Trying to cut it is definitely possible

Are you sure? Acorrding to Carthago's figures there is no weight difference and on Hymers it's 16 kg.
The 2019 Price List showed -40kg. A quick glance at the 2021 one shows -10kg. Perhaps the -40kg was a bit optimistic in the light of the other figures.

The signwriting near the door handle could be useful in later years . Or after a heavy night out.
There's one on eBay now, looks identical from the outside, but nowhere near inside, and they want 8 grand for it

I like having two decent sized beds. We sleep separately so Wife uses the rear island customised to suit her (she suffers continuous back pain) and I use the over-cab drop-down.

We opted not to have the front drop down bed on ours. It’s now an island bed 2 berth with much more light and headroom at the front. Factory upgraded the engine in lieu of the bed. The dealer recently asked if we wanted to sell it and only dropped £500 off the price due to it being a 2 berth so no real financial pain vs the benefits for us.

As I keep pointing out, unless you want a licence that is only recognised in the UK, there would have to be agreement with some 130 countries to the change for the licence to be accepted outside UK.

What use is a licence which does not take one beyond Dover?

My mate just sold a 2 bed autocruise Pioneer renoir.+

** hell of a job to sell on as a limited market as soon as people realise .**
Similar to my Autocruise Starburst..Great kitchen large shower/toilet across the rear,,2 6foot singles plus front seats swivel. Shame I got mine written off in Germany back in 2009.BUSBY.

My better half hated making our corner bed in our Dethleff,,main reason we sold it..Takes me two mins to make our beds at night and three mins to unmake
in a morning,,Not what I would call a chore..BUSBY.
