Hi
My son borrowed van (1st mistake!!).
Van now back in my possession but battery dropped to 8.4v because it was just sitting.
Q. How long to bring it back up to 12.4v?
I've connected to house mains.

It's victron multiplus system which is telling me that under voltage protection is activated.
Q. Do I need to reset system.

Thanks

How long to bring it back up to 12.4v?
12.4V is about the 20% charge level. It depends on the amp-hours of the battery, and the amps of the charger. For a 100Ah battery and a 70A charger, that will be about 20 minutes. For a 200Ah battery and a 20A charger, that would be 2 hours.

What model is the Multiplus?

The VE. Bus BMS is showing a red light.

And the panel showing 100% charge but victron system saying 8.4v and under voltage notification.
I've plugged into house mains which shows power coming into passthru unit.

This is what the victron app is showing.

I'm totally lost.
Do I need to wait until battery recharges?
Or am I missing something simple....or more complicated?

Do you have access to the lithium battery BMS, probably a bluetooth app on your phone. Somehow you need to be able to awaken the lithium battery so that it can accept a charge.

Surprised the battery was able to discharge to such a low voltage. Shutoff in the BMS would normally be 11.0V or possibly higher on lithium.

Yes, I'm confused. Seems to have dropped v low.

Got the app but can't see any route to wake up battery??

If you have the app and can connect to the battery it is probably awake. Presumably the battery BMS is showing the low voltage, as well as the Multiplus?

Have you checked fuses between the battery and charger?

Sorry for ignorance...where will I find fuses?
This showing battery as OK...I think?

If the BMS perimeter were set correctly, then the BMS should have disconnected at a absolute minimum of 10 volts, at 8.4 you are well into the territory of damaged cells.

RogerIvy, nigelivy can you give any advice here ?

It's the multiplus 12/3000/120
That-s a big inverter/charger for a motorhome, and the charger can push out 120A. I presume you have a lot of battery storage, 300Ah or more, so that will only take half an hour or so to get the battery up to 20%, ie about 12.5V.

Sorry I don't know how to get the battery going again, maybe Raul or Lenny HB can suggest something.

Maybe the voltage of 8.4V is not the actual voltage of the cells, but some voltage appearing at the terminals after the cells have been disconnected.

There seems to be a conflict here....the E3 error code seems to be blocking all activity.....can't override or action it.
As above the smart shunt says all good.
But the battery protect showing 8.1v and error code.
Should be heading to France tues!!!

Gav61 what battery is it?
Do you have a BMS app that can tell us what is going on inside the battery?
Until we know that it’s pretty much guesswork.

What is clear is that the battery ran down very low. Some BMS’s allow the user to override “Low Voltage Protection” (LVP) in cases of emergency … I wonder if this has happened.
Or maybe the LVP settings are very low. …. maybe 2v (8v for the battery pack).

Is the bms the same as the smartphone?
Sort of yes - the BMS allows the smartphone app to connect to it. In the app you can view status, settings etc. in many apps you can control the battery too.

That’s not it, that’s the Victron app showing shunt and battery protect.
What make is your battery?

These are the two screenshot s that appear to conflict.
Can't get to know what the E3 error is or to cancel/override or change it

The shunt could be reporting the charger voltage
Victron lithium
Do you know the exact model of the Victron battery?

And in your Victron Connect app, in the list of devices, is there a battery listed?

I can't find any specific about battery....I'll delve into van guts tom to identify it.
Cheers

I've gone through every system in app but can't find the battery specific bit...I'll look tom as no electric in van due to this issue.

Disconnect everything, leave it for a while then check the voltage at the terminals using a multimeter. Sometimes the old fashioned way works. :)
