I get my 3 drug prescriptions in lots of 84 i.e. 3 months ish.

Our travel insurance is valid for one month which to them is 31 days!

Like others have said medication is usually 28 days for a month.

Not here. they are in 28's, 30's 20's etc;etc; additionally you also can only get them when the time is up +/- 1 week .so in my case I have some that are available for repeat one week & others that can only be picked up the week after. It is only rarely that all coincide.

ask in doctors for medicine to be synchronise so you can pick all up at one time ours did for me

right for those of you who have been following this thread with bated breath NOT I have now had a definitive answer from the Dr's and a police friend of mine for all things legal and medical it is as others on here have said it is one calendar

One of the reasons given for the 28 day packs was compliance but to be honest how many of us bother to check that we are taking the correct day each morning. In fact I’m sure it was a devious money making exercise on the part of the drug companies to give us less tablets. I’m on two regular tablets, one is in 28 day packs nicely labelled with the day of week. The other comes in 30 day packs and ironically that’s the one that has the critical bioavailability, bonkers.
If your surgery has System One and you order your medication online you will be able to order your next months worth after 3 weeks and 1 day should you want to start building up supplies for your next jaunt. Not that I’ve told you that of course!

just be aware you can order up to 3 months of medicine although most practice's won't go above two
months it is entirely at your Dr discretion

Make an appointment with your doc and ask if you can resume driving yet.
If your surgery is anything like mine you won't get an appointment until middle of July so your well covered.

We must have been lucky a couple of years ago when we wanted 3 months in one go as our Dr agreed! Only go away for a month at a time now so just get 2 months at a time as holiday always seems to be across 2 medication periods!

You are right in that you can legally get 3 months supply from your GP on the NHS but lots of snowbirds go for 6 months so my tip was to help stockpile without asking for a private script for an extra 3 months or buying abroad. Some are easy and cheap to buy abroad but others are not. I am a retired GP by the way.

Hi Romany , in your original post you said you didn’t need stress and so on . Sadly you have had a stroke but your fit to drive soon . Your poor wife has had I expect so much worry and stress about your health . What’s a few days in the long term .
It’s great your want to get on with life so please don’t worry you will soon be driving .

We only get telephone appointments/consultations I rarely bother with my GP the rare occasions I need a DrI usually go by taxi with a blue light on the top

Yes we sometimes get so wrapped up and frustrated with our own health we forget our partners are going through it as well

It does vary enormously but if you do get caught out try to request it as the generic form, if you waggle the empty box and your chemist at home has given you a branded version then the pharacist abroad is likely to sell you an expensive branded version, not always mind. If you have your repeat slip it will probably have the drug written down in the generic form so waggle that!

There are a few exceptions when you need the branded version but if that's the case you'll know so don't worry. Your doctor would tell you. Good luck. Just get better. Patience is a virtue so I'm told although if someone kept telling me that I'd want to slap them.
