How do you store your tools?

The `Van has a passenger door which is never used, It`s on SWMBO`s side and too high a step up for her, we always use the hab door. So the toolbox lives in the door footwell. When I need it for something I just open the door and the box is there.

I keep mine in a lunchbox.
I really do, it’s in the gas locker.
set of spanner’s screw driver set, pliers etc.

I think we all carry more than we really need. My stash of tools and bits was built up during my Landrover days
because they always fell apart in the daftest locations.
Our motorhome travels never take us far from some were to buy bits. I got the local bus into town once for bits to sort the Duetto.
As Poppycamper said there’s always some thing in the back of breakdown van that will help you on you’re way.

That is pure unadulterated man porn!!!:whatthe:
Not just man porn ... corrrrrr ... I could really get into toolboxes in a big way with that lot ... 😝

Because I carry the motor bike (20yr old Ducati engined Cagiva) & the van is now 16 yrs old.
I carry 2 large tool boxes, a tool roll, a stack of plastic mushroom trays with electrical cable, fuses & parts, adhesives, soldering irons (gas+electric) nuts, bolts, screws & washers, fibre glass repair kit, epoxy metal repair, crimps & crimper.
Two big trays with spares & parts for the bike (clutch/brake levers, mirrors etc.), paddock stand for the bike, a hard hat, proper rubber gloves, copper slip, grease, sealant+gun.
Under+behind passenger seat, chain+padlock for bike, a set of drills and taps + a selection of dies, the large torque wrench (small one fits in tool box) battery drill (B&D Quattro), a dremel with lots of cutting, grinding and tiny drill bits, couple of axle stands, full set of male torx.
Drivers side, a compressor, pressure gauge plus a pot full of adapters, latex gloves and rags.
Under bench seat, a set of snow chains, spare inner tubes for van and bike, gas blow torch, long reach socket set, van workshop manual, bearings & brake pads for bike.
Over cab bed, bike panniers, extra motor bike front and rear wheels with knobbly tyres fitted, pair of spare helmets (mine & girlfriends).
Under sink, multi meter and a clip on ammeter.
I do tend to wander off for months on end, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Scotland and Ireland (wherever) and I do thousands of miles on the bike and my experience is that, for instance in Italy I needed a new set of front brake pads, €110 with a discount, Wemoto on line €74, Scotland, new rear tyre £150, online £80 (that is a lot of Guinness)
Bizarre (I know) but I bought the van through the business as a on site mobile workshop and claimed the VAT back and all the stuff I carry has got me and many other poor unfortunates broken down or accident damaged peeps at the side of the road going again.
I'm not on a two week holiday to the sun, I'm on the road to ride the roads and trails wherever they take me and the van is my AirBnB.

Funny thing is, though, I generally only get it out (ooh missus!!!) when helping other folk!
Yes me too and funnily enough it invariably involves the multimeter :giggler: .

I have the same trouble with hubby ... whenever he goes rootling around for anything, be it pans, cutlery etc it's a mess afterwards ... no way will I let him anywhere NEAR my tool box!

Joking aside, I have a nice plastic tool box with a lift up top section which takes little bits and bobs and the main body of it takes most of the other stuff (spanners, screwdrivers, multimeter, wire, pliers, etc with the few tools which are too large in a soft bag. The tool box has to be packed in a certain way otherwise it won't all fit in so I really ought to go through it though as I know I have spare switches etc in it that I had for the Globecar which I certainly won't need in the Carthago but you can bet as soon as I remove something I'll need the ruddy thing!

I keep the tools near the front is the nearside locker so that I can get at them easily and means the weight is up front where we have a lot of spare capacity ... it also means I don't have to try to find them in the garage under all the other stuff that hubby will have piled on up on top after he's been rummaging!
You need distributed tool storage. I have a few often needed things (tiny screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, USB tester, torches, etc) inside the van. Then I have a box probably identical to yours in the garage. And another box in the garage with a selection of sockets, extensions, T bars, ratchets, and the like.

Same here, I have a smaller tool box inside for stuff that I'm likely to need to hand without having to faff about outside.

I keep the following

2 screwdrivers, multimeter, precision screwdrivers, measuring tape, 3:1 oil, silicone spray

in open pocket next to driver's seat.

Gaffer tape in ktchen drawer

Big tools in plastic toolbox with 'bit lid', just inside garage door.

Socket/screwdriver sets strapped on plinth, also just inside garage door.

All electrical spares, fuses, connectors, bits of wiring etc., are in a bag in an overhead locker.

About to dump Fiat jack and wheel brace, as I do not trust it and probably cannot lift the spare now.
