How do you get the awning light to come on when approaching and exiting

The one on my Motorhome is switched on from the switches above the hab door. It stays on till you turn it off So as soon as it starts to get dark I switch it on then turn it off in the morning

Fit a 12v PIR switch, or buy a Carthago with central locking comes on when you unlock.
Thats good to know👍

The knaus we had before had one that had a built in PIR and an interior switch that in one position the PIR was active the other the light was permanently on.

Dunno. It just does when I unlock the van. It stays on just about long enough to open the hab door and lower the steps and then plunges you into darkness as you step into the van. This is normally when I realise that the control panel is turned off and the interior light switch is off . . . .

Our switch has 3 settings. Off/PIR/On. Set it to PIR and the light comes on and off as you approach or exit. If your van doesn’t have a switch above the door that does this, then you can’t make it happen.

Labcraft Astro is a PIR awning light. There are others. Price is a bit 😱🤯 though.

Ours was supplied with a remote control, which is handy for finding the van when you come back in the dark from the pub!
