How do you choose a camera?

However, I do confess that the convenience factor of mobile phones has made me lazy 😞
I was out taking pictures over the weekend, using my Nikon Z6II, and my iPhone 11 Pro.

My Nikon D50 chose me. It was chucked out when they were clearing a flat next door to where I work. It went into a council bin in the road and I rescued it. I had to buy a charger for it but it works very well. Had it a while now... Since 2012.
My first DSLR was a D50. It's an excellent camera and did me very good service for quite a while. I sold it to a work colleague for his wife.
I've since had a D7000, and now have a D780 and a Z6II. Both excellent cameras. And I do quite a lot with my iPhone too...

What I've found is that I don't carry compact cameras anymore. My high quality Canon & Panasonic compacts haven't been out of the cupboard for at least a year I should think. Everything I did with them I now do with my phone camera, whereas the stuff I shoot with a DSLR, I still shoot with a DSLR. Mostly.
