To make any money from these scams it will require someone to transfer some money without seeing a motorhome in the flesh. Why would anyone do that? Having said that I'm amazed by the scams that do succeed. They wouldn't make this much effort if they caught some fish. There are some gullible people out there.
I've bought several motorhomes and paid a deposit before I've seen them . There's ways to tell genuine from scams . The price is usually a big giveaway.

Article in The Times today saying that the Police are asking the Public to report persons offering goods at well below market prices.

Maybe this 'company' should be the subject of such a report.

Seem a bonafide company from the stuff on gov.uk but the photos of the MHs all seem to be taken at private homes or somewhere in the country which is a bit odd. Are they brokers who don't have any stock themselves?
This is a common practice in France where the broker arranges peer-to-peer sales and, obviously, takes a slice of the sale price. They tend to value the van and then try to whittle it down afterwards. I don’t suppose there is any warranty but to change ownership there should be a valid MoT type test certificate less than 6 months old. You are not allowed to sell things with undisclosed faults but I don’t know how that works in principle

These "safeguards" are in place in France, but the French legal processes are so convoluted that it is not worth the effort most of the time to try to get restitution.

Definitely a scam at those prices as other have stated.
My view is they are either;
1) Just quoting someone else company name/number on their website.
2) if they do own the company name they may have just bought it from a company that specialised in aged/vintage companies to add some reputability.

You can pick up a 10 year old vintage/aged company for £1,000.

Basically a company will register 100s of company names and resell them. some won't sell very quickly and will become aged/vintage and these can actually sell for more.

You can report this fraudulent website to namecheap and if enough do it, they will take the site down.

You can also report this to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

It really needs quite a few of us to report it. BUT when reporting it mention clearly that ALL the vehicles are being listed at well under half their usual price.

I don't have time to look now but this process may also be worth doing.

If enough of us go through the process we should be able to get the website taken down fairly quickly and hopefully prevent some people from being scammed.

I just followed up and looked on companies house. As others have said looks like a legitimate company who didn't have a website or register their own domain and the scammers have taken advantage of this.

Hi All

Just for clarity, I am the Director of AUTC Ltd. A fraudster created a website at the web address www.autc.co.uk (our company website has a different web address and does not sell caravans or motorhomes), faked a passport and then managed to get several people to send them relatively large sums of money for these clearly considerably underpriced vehicles. 3 people so far have contacted me having sent them money, one has a solicitor chasing me for the money they sent. Amazing that they could find us AFTER paying sums of money over and didn't think to do this before. As most of you worked out that website was run by a scammer and fortunately none of you were fooled or drawn in by the low prices. It was shut down some time ago and I assume the fraudster is trying something else now. (No) Action Fraud would take no action even when the website was live trying to defraud people.....as no crime had been committed apparently at that time. Keep vigilant people!!!

The antivirus software on my phone warns me the site is not secure. If it looks too good to be true it generally is so personally I would stay away.

Hi all mew here but yes it's a con . Which I unfortunately fell fir last year . My health wasn't the best at the time and had coving at the time of pur have. Got me for the sum of £ 8800 . I have his detail including his passport photo and details ( well which I suspect is not his and is stolen. A sufisticated scam to be fair but due to been ill at the time I didn't do my due diligence. In my research before it was too late. Yes lesson learned. Anyone else get scammed and managed to get money back. If so how.
