Disable "Show Feed". Go to Settings - the little gear shaped icon at the top right . On Page settings, 3rd block down on mine there's "Show Feed". Turn it to off.
Or don't use Edge as a browser.

Looks like you have set your browser HOME page to a news feed. Change it to Google.co.uk or duckduckgo and when you open new tab will open a blank search screen.

Thanks both, but I can't find 'Home Page' anywhere.
When I go to 'Settings' (gear wheel) I get....

Then choose 'System' but no 'Home page' just this....

If I put 'Home page' in the 'Find a setting' search box I get....

but nowhere can I locate 'Home page' settings to turn off the MSS feed.

Yes, Edge. Windows 10 on my laptop.
Ta. (Sorry to be a pain - I'm pretty well familiar with computer stuff but MS seem to have deliberately made if difficult to turn their feed off).

Use google Chrome as a browser instead. My new tab looks like this - regularly used sites will appear and you can even add short cuts to your favourites.

As said already that's the Windows settings you're opening. I use Edge occasionally when Firefox is on a go slow (which still puzzles me). Go to the settings on your Edge screen (cog wheel) and turn off "Show Feed"

Ugghh! Yes, I was looking at the Windows settings.

All sorted now, thanks. Sometimes computers can make one feel very silly.

Main reason being since about 2003 I detest everything Microshaft! I use Win 10 because I have to. I also use Libre Office instead of MS Office.

Firefox also has a built-in ad blocker ...
