Is the campsite open now? It was closed when we went after Easter. Took a look at the Motorhome Park and didn’t fancy it.

This is the Algarve Motorhome Park Tavira, €10 a night you just can't go wrong, thats with EHU, very clean site, It's been busy, but still has pitch's, moving on to Falésia next week.

We dropped in on Monday with the intention of staying Tuesday but ended up going to Loulé, now at Galé.

In the late 80s I came across them in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania. The truck used to arrive a few hours before the coach with all the passengers and the driver and his mate would set-up trestle tables and benches for them to eat off, and lay out an outdoor cooking area. I think the travellers had a rota and took it in turns to do the communal cooking and washing-up. I was surprised at the wide range of ages that used it and many of them were from the former Eastern Bloc countries, probably travelling for the first time.
It would never have appealed to me even in my younger days.

We saw our first one in Ireland years ago when we were on a tent camping trip.
I don’t know why but I always think of pigeons when I see them🤣
Mmm …..,won’t tell you what it makes me think of.

Hi.
" Pigeons " .."Cannonball" driver for a big haulage firm in Derbyshire 60's...... took the local Pigeon federation wagon out one evening, drove to the release point some miles away and got his head down for the night, going to release the pigeons next morning. Getting out of the cab and having stretched he looked at the vehicle.......... Some helpful person had released them overnight. Did he ever live it down ? :ROFLMAO:;)🚛 .
Pigeons 2. Used to drive a Glucose syrup tanker. In the pub one night and was asked by a chap if i could get them a sample of syrup. " Yes,it goes well on porridge "... him " NO...its for my pigeons, mix a drop up with some water./food and feed it to my pigeons its supposed to give them more energy................ BE CAREFUL...They walk among us. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Haven't these people heard of "Tents".
In 1980 I went on a camping safari to Kenya. Just a normal bus size for 23 people, all the kit on the roof. Pitching up for a couple of nights on each of the game reserves. Best holiday ever! I was young but there were a few much older people there too, and we all got on fine.
Even had a pride of lions wander into the camp one night! The driver - who slept on the bus - shouted to us to stay in our tents, while he started the engine and shone his headlights onto them to drive them away. No-one was hurt. Now THAT's a memory.

Use to see these a lot in the late 70s and early 80s in this country. They would often have a trailer full of luggage behind them.

The bedrooms dont look as bad as the external window layout suggests

Ive certainly seen motorhome layouts with less headroom over the beds.

Thats not to say I would want to be living the communal lifestyle. I suppose its a balance of adventure vs comfort / privacy
