Afternoon, do you leave you boiler on, or turn it off after using hot water needed. I have a truma combi boiler on gas. Thanks

We leave ours on all the time we are away. Runs on ehu if we have it or gas when we don't. Doesn't seem to use a lot of either. It's only maintaining the temperature.
Many disagree with me though.

Might depend on where you are. If on a site, using their showers and dish washing facilities there seems no point in having your hot water on all the time. If off grid I put it on just before I need it.

On the timer for hot water when we get up, use a kettle for washing up lunchtime & evening. Unless it's cold and the heating is on then we have hot water as a byproduct.

In cold weather, the frost protection valve opens to protect the boiler from freezing if the temperature drops to about 4 or 5 degrees C. I switch on the water heater to get the water hot, and that protects the boiler and stops the frost protection valve from tripping. Maybe get the boiler hot once or twice a day, depending on the outside temperature.

We just have ours on when needed when on gas for showering, we boil the kettle for washing greasy plates and utensils, something like cereal bowls just get washed in cold water. Something that is just as important is on greasy/oily stuff it's best to wipe them out with a kitchen roll first, then wash them, remember all that grease, oil and food bits are not good in your waste tank.
