Is it ok to connect two 16 amp hookup leads together? Just wondering if it's ok in the rain?
Can't find a suitable waterproof plug/socket combination anywhere.
Thanks
Jim

I used to use a std 3 pin plug to the blue caravan connector adapter in a waterproof outside socket at home. I finally fitted a proper socket for the blue plug. When I unplugged the 3 pin adapter the blue plug had a lot of water in it where it had entered past the cable entry gland, it was sill working and had never tripped out
The one I fitted had a rear cable entry so no gland and a bead of silicone around the socket.

They use 1.5 mm sq cable as I do. They only use mains for their charger & fridge.
And they leave it partly on reel, good really, could you imagine the mess with 50m of wire😊

But they only use it for fridge and charger not like stupid Brits that want to heat the planet.
Often leave mine on the reel like most contental vans my heating is gas only.

50m not uncommon on French Aires, the French Germans and Dutch carry 50m leads.
I agree being abroad currently I have 1 x 10m1 x 15m and a 50m one

My Victron unit deals with voltage drop

You can have all the Solar in the World when your parked under trees as it’s so hot!

The proper wall plug socket eventually fitted had all that but originally I had to use on of these plugged into an external waterproof socket and the rain water tracked along the cable even though it was close to horizontal and eventually worked its way past the cable gland

These round blue plugs and sockets are officially IP44 protected. The second '4' means proof against water splashes from any direction, which makes them rainproof. But not proof against pressure hoses or immersion. If you are getting water ingress then either the connector is defective or it's not been assembled correctly.

I have noticed that some connectors don't have a proper compression gland on the cable entry, and rely on the cable being thick enough to seal the entry, which doesn't seem ideal to me.

Our German neighbours on Camping Athens.

To the left 40m left on the reel.

And to the right a good 30m not just nicely coiled but secured as well!

I was awake all night awaiting the conflagration!

No problem when you are only running the fridge & charger.
