Anybody got one? Thinking of trading in the KTM Duke 390 for something maybe a bit more fun.
After camping on some really sodden fields this year (had to get towed 3 times) the knobbly tyres are a big advantage straight away 🤔

(y) I havnt got a CRF but they do get very good reviews, leading more to off road, boollet proof Honda too.

I'm liking the look of the Triumph 400 scrambler just about coming out, looks really nice, again got good reviews and might well fit in the van garage

It would be stretching it a bit to describe the CRF300 as offering a bit more fun than your 390. The 300 is pretty gutless (IIRC 24bhp?) in comparison to your 390.

Have you ruled out the KTM 390 Adventure? For example:

Hmm thanks, maybe knobbly tyres on my Duke would be the best option then. The 390 adventure doesn't seem much different apart from being taller, my mate has one 🤔

I suppose you have to test ride, Honda say the torque has been increased a lot over the previous 250 model. I texted another one of my mates earlier and low and behold he's got a 2022 model I can have a go on 🤩 he's got about 7 bikes.. 🤔 actually I probably would if I didn't have a big motorhome filling the garage up 🤣

I think it’s a great little bike (that I haven’t ridden) but can’t help feel that (based on the numbers) it’s a little under powered. Honda did the same thing with the 450 (gave it a woefully low power figure).

Perhaps my view might be different if I test rode it.

The 400 is 185 kgs.

I did a two day enduro course on a CRF300. It had a headlight, but no plate or indicators, so I'm not sure which variant it was? They are fantastic machines. Incredible what they'll go over and through and how much abuse they'll take.

However, I couldn't move for about 3 days afterwards, it battered me so hard. So much fun. Maybe the road going versions are different, but I suspect they'd be pretty useless on tarmac for any kind of distance. And the seat was stupid high. To get a foot down, I had the seat hooked under the inside of my knee! I'd love one, but only for off-road use.

Has anyone a BMW 310Gs ? I did have one and it was a really good bike. I now have a different van and bike and wondered if one would fit in the van garage without the mirrors

Fit some lowering links. It softens the back end, but you can play with the spring, or settings.

What was the 300 that Itchyboots was riding in Africa ?

Had the crf250l when they first came out. Suspension was very soft and any muddy conditions off road will require better tyres.
I loved mine mainly used as a commuter very reliable engine

If you really want a giggle, try one like mine.

Nice image, of Graciosa ;) :ROFLMAO:. Gas Gas make some good bikes, but have they sorted out the 25 different fixing heads on all the fasteners. The Pamperas made a brilliant trail bike, plenty of them used in long distance trials.
The CRM250 MK3 is still the pappy of them all though, the thinking man's A. R.
My joints have now ruled out that hobby :(.
Mike.
