I think it's a great idea, even after reading some of the negative comments already posted. The concept could be extended to create a fibre glass one mounted to the chassis, which might be a cheaper option than increasing the size of your motorhome by buying a bigger one.

I'd be all over one that was 6ft x 4ft x 2ft.....a cover (and base) for two bikes on the rear rack freeing up the garage

I think that must be available professionally made somewhere. The base looks quite substantial and the high level brake light is not a home made bodge.

It will vary of course, but there's a lot less than 100kg in there so I think there will be plenty that can.
You see something similar on the back of transfer buses to the ski resorts to carry the skis. They are carbon fibre skinned by the looks and by the number of them around are certainly professionally made.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 200kg plus the structure of course, I have seen similar before though and even some that have been grafted to the back of the motorhome body trying to make it look as one, cheaper than buying a new van though and can be taken off and left at home if not required.

What in there can get you to 200k? One bike and one gas canister are the only things I can see that are heavy and that's a lot less than 40 kg, I'd imagine. Now there might be 50 litres of wine or beer that we can't see but even so nowhere near 200kg. And the structure looks like it'll be less than 25kg.

And the box and chassis frame its mounted to weighs about 25kg. I've been on the weighbridge fully loaded and I still have over 100kg spare on the rear axle ( and under for the whole van)

Indeed. It's just on 6m. The overhang added by the box is about 550mm

Putting that on a van with a 2 metre overhang would be an entirely different matter.

If we had an extra metre and a half inside the van we wouldn't need the box!

I could be wrong of course there looks to be some metal poles behind the bike, water bottle full or empty? box of bit for cooking with pan in etc etc, I guess it all adds up.

If you look on their Facebook page there's some pictures from about 3 years back of similar boxes. They don't seem to promote them but were happy enough to make me one to my specs. Cost just over £2k including (overpriced!) fittings to hold the bikes
