Hello, I have a Citroen relay 2.2 2020 with engine management light and "check adblue system" notice.
I will try a top up of adblue, but I didn't get the low level warning so it might not be just low level. I want to check and reset the error code.
What would be a suitable odb code reader for this van? I've seen devices for £10 or £150+

It's currently with the builder having conversion but I'm keen to resolve the issue so I can use it in the autumn.
Thanks
Ben

It may be the atomizer in the DPF system. A known weak point in the 2.2 and a garage only job to replace and reset the device fuel pump and injector. The ad blue could be a red herring. The atomizer gets clogged up if the engine isn't thrashed too much. When the ecu asks for a regen of the dpf it can't inject the extra diesel into the exhaust to help regen due to blocked atomizer so throws an error. Not really practical to clean it so replacement is the best solution but it needs coding to the ecu via advanced diagnostics which grunt OBD readers won't do.

Thanks very much for your input.
Only done 8500 miles as a delivery van, so the history fits. Pity the light didn't come on when the AA survey man drove it pre purchase!

But I would like to know if a basic reader could confirm your suspicions?

Futhermore, can anybody recommend a good garage in Bristol for light commercials? My go-to for a T5 (streetwise, VAG speacialist) cannot do cat7 MOT and only basic diagnostics on Citroen/Peugeot.

If north of Bristol, then I can recommend these on the A38 up towards Gloucester

The fault was.... No fault found! Good to know, but it cost me dear to discover that and have the ECU reset.
I'm now considering a lexia 3 adaptor with diagbox after reading around a bit. ...In the hope that should a (non)fault code rear up again, I could sort it myself.
Any folks here used a lexia on a Relay before? Am I being realistic?

Yes, a Chinese Lexia/Peugeot Planet from Ebay will work. But.....it is not an easy thing to set up on your laptop, no matter what the seller may say. Are you happy finding files, including hidden ones, installing drivers etc. The problem is most of this counterfeit software was written for Windows XP with a serial port connection. Although modern laptops use a Universal Serial Port (USB) it does not easily link to older software.

I think I can probably handle it, but having seen an annoyed geezer on YT, I'm prepared for frustration. Some sellers offer a pre prepared laptop, which may be worthwhile in the time v money equation.
Thanks for the Nailsea garage link, I've heard they are good, it's a fair ride on the bike to pick up/ drop off, mind.

Try easy diagnostic. Very good aftersales. The main issue is the adapter you need to connect and read the ecus on the boxer/ rela. I made one but it only does Euro5.
Hissoftware works on Windows 7 and I believe 10 as well.
Jim is his name.

I realise it's an old thread but did you get diagbox? If so any information/recommendations welcome, I'm trying to replace adblue on a 2020(later ECU)
Several scanner manufacturers including Autel say they don't do a suitable scanner.

Some people seem to have had success with the KINGBOLEN K7. I've not tried myself yet.

Another one with good reviews is TOPDON ArtiDiag800BT. I believe Topdon have a phone line you can call to check your Peugeot is covered. I'd be interested in what they say if you decide to go this route.

Will try both ,just had replies from Autel and Kingbolen neither do anything suitable (specifically asked about adblue) can't find out if diagbox works on Late 2020 adblue or if SGW fitted or built into ECU..hours spent only want to remove adblue tank to repair a leak then refit( no DTC at present all perfect ) adblue leak is at bottom of tank above "control pack / pump " I guess! Crystals and fluid all over said pack/ bottom cover, worried sooner or later will get into electronics

There isn't a security gatewy on my 2021 citroen. So far, I've only used multiecuscan. If you're ever coming over worcester way, I'm happy for you to to plug my multiecuscan in and see what comes up. It won't do the engine, but does see lots of the other ECUs - I used it to adjust the TPMS.

I believe diagbox/Lexia is what the dealers use.

Thanks for the offer ( we are actually over in your area at the schools out Rallie later in the year) But having bought all the leads and SGW bypass and got multi free found the same as you gets several systems but not the engine and therefore not the adblue.Having read about diagbox from adverts on line and a few posts sounds easy to get the wrong "kit" and even with the right kit very daunting to install and get to work(& still not been able to find out if it does adblue) I'll do anything practical ,but am of an age that coding and computer lingo is somewhat daunting but if needs be !!

I still haven't got an obd reader. I tried a Topdon model which connected but didn't do anything useful. I enquired to them which model would be suitable and they suggested the artidiag800bt.
Not tried it as it's quite expensive.
Also corresponded with Jim at easy diagnostics. He's now selling a new interface that replaces Lexia. It's 270 with the licence for PSa vehicles so I'm still hesitating. It connects to diagbox on a pc. The same box and licence is apparently available direct from the company who make them, vxdiag. About 200 USD, but I worry about after sales service which is probably worth the extra to go with easy diagnostics...
Any experience of these vxdiag interfaces out there?

I've just bought the full chip interface off eBay
Was 109 now 119 with downloadable software for all including latest versions of Diagbox bit of faff to install but works as it should on boxer 2020
I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain ALL(except official main dealer)Diagbox software is not licensed by Pas or Peugeot it is all copied and can't be used online for fear of PSA locking it.Most if not all is freely available on line
