Holy Island of Lindisfarne stranded motorhome

Amazing how quick that tide is, it was lapping at the wheels of my Elldis on the causeway long before it was due in.

Wind force and direction play a big part and can disrupt the posted safe crossing times. I have visited and birdwatched on the island for 50 years 3 years ago in high winds safe crossing time was considerably delayed as we tried to depart it got to dusk over a hour later and there was still water covering parts of the causeway several inches deep. Not to deep you may think not so when relying on headlights to see the way as they reflect off the surface making it a perilous transit, one wheel off the causeway into soft sand and it’s game over. Will post a couple of dash cam screen grabs next time I flash up the compute to illustrate it.

@Stewart J ... psst ... you did realise you had one of those very rare 'tripod legged' storks next to your MH didn't you? Be careful of them, they can be vicious b*ggers especially when they 'snap'! :D2

Yes horsebox, big oops.

As promised photos of the causeway crossing we had to make in high winds and over an hour into the safe crossing time.
