Holiday Jaunt Starts Today...

Slightly concerned...

All the motorhomes bar one, plus the two tents have left, either late last night or early this morning... maybe they know that the powers to be don't let us stay long...

It is, however, so beautiful here that I have decided to risk staying longer... all primed and ready for quick exit though

Yes indeed Martin... several locals have been wandering down with their fishing rods and dangling string in the water... Hope I didn't frighten their prey away with my "great white whale" impressions... :Rofl1: :Rofl1: :Rofl1:

GNR car passed slowly by this afternoon but said nothing... fingers crossed.

JJ

Some questions answered...

Despite the GNR cruising around yesterday, I have been left in peace...

There are Portuguese Tuggers "off site" camping...

The lake is beautiful to "swim" in...

My "blue" Vodafone data signal is back (yesterday it went to green [slow] in the afternoon)

Yes, I am loving it... :thumb::thumb::thumb:

MOTORHOMING ROCKS

You might just be able to see the tent (middle aged couple from Lisbon) by the closest tree...

I was running low on fresh water and LPG and filling up with the other "coloured types of water" so...

...Yesterday I headed off for Mertola where I knew I could fill up with fresh water and it would take me closer to facilities for the other chores.

I planned to stop on the quay where the canoe club and rowers launch their craft...

Thoughtlessly the wretched authorities decided to have a town party and use my parking space for a stage for the bands...:Eeek:

Man plans and God laughes...

So on to Castro Marim where there is a full service aire...

Chores done, I went off to Cabanas near Tavira... saw the man I needed to... and then parked in a (tempory) carpark. (They have fenced off my usual spot..):Angry: A horrid night and in the morning was nearly jammed in with cars.

This beach village is TOTALLY different in the tourist season. It was horrid... yuk yuk yuk

As soon as I was able I headed north(ish) and had a lovely meandering drive :driving2: through parts of Portugal I had never visited.

A nice siesta stop in shady layby and then back to the lake side for more R&R...

JJ

err JJ retired this year and has been fulltiming for about 25 years Stu.

Retired? He never stopped working at Stratford last month.

If he wasn't showing off his mechanical skills under the bonnet or supervising Dick's use of a pop rivet gun he was having agonised, high-powered, board-level meetings with his accountant half over whether to buy another Kipor :Rofl1::Rofl1:

All this fencing off your regular parking spots and even going to the extreme trouble of booking bands to park on them I hope they are not victimising you mate................

Does This Make Me A Bad Person?

Morning Funsters from beach village/small town just south of Perniche, Portugal.

I am making my way home in stages and on Friday I met up with my friend Viv again and we spent yesterday on a pleasant, gentle drive along the Atlantic coast calling in on several beaches "sussing" out the "off site" parking situation.

In the end we stopped the night here (see pictures) called Consolasao.

Far too many vans for my liking so will probably move on today but with the main car park literally crammed full of campers we parked further away where there are signs up saying no caravans... well... we (and several others) decided we are NOT caravans and here we are...

Does this make us bad people?

JJ.

PS. Practically all the vans are Portuguese...

PPS A great little (outside) Circus...

JJ you are looking good n relaxed !

I completely agree that you are not a caravan, when going on the ferries , tolls etc there is a difference so MUST be the same about parking :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1: (no offence to tuggers meant)

Bet you enjoyed the Circus
:BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin:

The GNR (National Police) parked in their police car outside my van a little while ago and had a long chat, laughing and joking with a couple of the motorhomers who had wandered over.

So it hardly looks like we are a problem. :thumb:

I think the caravan (not motorhome) signs might be aimed at our Romany cousins... or the police were frightened off by the Motor Home Fun screen sticker... "we must not upset them... there are thousands of them...:Eeek: :Rofl1:
