Off from the Studio for a few weeks jaunt around Portugal. I drop my friend (and colleague) Chris off at Lisbon airport and then...

Have to deliver four big batteries (120 amp) to "The Man" Viv and then... who knows...?

If any Funster is around the area (Pego da Altar tonight then west coast...) keep you eyes open for the most beautiful Hymer in the world and pop around for a pie and a pint...

Writing list of stuff to move from Wagon to Hymer (Fly hunting equipment) now...

Must remember the screen stickers...

I am back from the wilderness...

I have met up with Viv The Guru at a new place for me Praia de Santo Andre...

Beachs...2 (one sea, one lagoon)

Bars... 3

Sun... wall to wall...

Breeze to keep us cool...

Water taps all over the place...

But my internet went down! DISASTER... no internet for two days... NIGHTMARE...

Drove to the Vodafone shop in Sines (20 kms)... it was an accounting fault...:Blush:

Bought new speedier thingy, plugged into the sharing dock and I, together with two of my mates, are online again... YIPPEE :thumb:

Looks like it is going to be another hot and sunny day.

I am thinking about taking a dip today... won't be able to lie on the beach though... people will think I am a beached great white whale and try and push me out to sea...

The news is that the motorhomes were very nicely asked to leave Porto Cova (just down the coast from here) after being given 24 hours notice.

I think that might have something to do with why this location has suddenly filled up.

It was very quiet when I got here on Tuesday.

Now it has motorhomes, caravans and tents all over the place... There is even a line of washing out...

What I might do is photograph the "paid" site up the road and this "off site location" so Funsters can compare....

Three photos... the first is my first holiday stop one kilometre from the airport... then the batteries I delivered from the Newbury Show to Viv and the third is the view from my drop down bed at 7.15 this morning...

JJ

PS. I hope I am not boring people...

Pic 1 ..always nice to go for a campsite with a top class restaurant and entertainment facility

Pic 2.. If you get self venting batteries next time you will find them ok to fit inside the van

Pic 3.. an emptied campsite, now I know which side of the van you sog vents to

After a busy morning computing I rested all afternoon and even let a little bit of sun onto my lily white legs...

Took these snaps of the park up...

To far to walk to the official camp site for comparison photos... maybe tomorrow...

Well Mr Stewart... don't want to argue (as you know I never do:Rofl1:) but there is a Fun screen sticker on the screen and a "JJ Lives Here" Rally badge on the dash (visible through the screen to passers by) but to keep you happy I will put up another one... OK? :thumb:

Now now Master JJ I didn't say there were none, I just can't see any :Wink:

Horses for Courses

For research purposes only I walked the 1km (away from the beach) to the campsite to take these pictures... then walked back :Eeek:

Very roughly the charges were €4.60 for the van and €3.70 per person per night. 2 amp leccy was included in this price but if you wanted 6 amp then it was an extra €3 per night).

No Funster who knows me will have trouble working out which of the two "sites" in the photos I choose to stay at...

JJ :thumb:

PS. Went into the lagoon today for a swim... gorgeous...:thumb:

PPS. The last photo is for Stewart...:Rofl1:

Glad to hear that you are enjoying that beautiful weather JJ,

The Hymer is looking good too

A swim how lovely, I have forgotten what that is, I had hoped to [STRIKE]flap about[/STRIKE] swim when we were in Spain last middle Nov/Dec :BigGrin: hope you enjoyed it

Think I would rather the place where you parked than the campsite ... too squashed and in the dark , would hate being under all those trees with such great weather.... well chosen :thumb:

take care

Well... been parked up here for six days now which is long enough for me!

Must be something wrong with me... can't stay in one place too long...

I am going against all advice and heading over to the east of Portugal... everyone says it will be too hot there (top eighties) but I can't just stay here on the side of a beach much longer...

JJ

I set off at 3.30pm and headed for Mina da Juliana which is a small village on the side of a great big lake apparently in the middle of nowhere.

It is in the middle of nowhere at the end of a narrow 7.5 kilometre road and is a small village with no where to park, never mind stay over night.

Undaunted... I headed on towards Minas de Sao Domingos calling in at the huge supermarket at Beja first. Now fully stocked up... :thumb:

Arrived at Sao Domingos (just north of Mertola) and quite frankly it is heaven. I can't wait to post piccys tomorrow. I am in a pine tree area right by the side of the lake.

It is so nice that I decided to stay even though my Optimus phone was showing no signal at all... never mind I thought, a rest from the internet will do me no harm at all...

Once parked up I tried my Vodafone dongle and BINGO... full signal...:thumb::thumb:

Well happy...

Slightly concerned...

All the motorhomes bar one, plus the two tents have left, either late last night or early this morning... maybe they know that the powers to be don't let us stay long...

It is, however, so beautiful here that I have decided to risk staying longer... all primed and ready for quick exit though

looking at most of your piccy look as though a caravan could park up there to?

Enjoy your break in wonderful countryside and beeches:Wink::BigGrin:

There was a caravan here last night John but left late last night (I think)...

I was told by my mate "Alan The Caravan" that the GNR (national police) informed him that if his car is still hooked up to the caravan he is "parking" but if he unhitches it he is "camping."

The thing is what the police on the ground decide/are told what to do.

They let us park at Santo Andre in certain parts but not in others.

I reckon if there are only a few of us and you stay too long there is not a problem...

JJ

I love your pictures and updates:thumb::Cool::coolthumb::thanks2:
