Hiring out your motorhome ?

I've said before and I'll say it again. I would rather defecate, after a very hot curry, with a side of Brussel sprouts, on my bare hands and clap hard and repeatedly close to my face, than rent my motorhome out

If you go for option one can I have a ringside seat(preferably behind glass!)😄😄😄😄😄

My son ask me if he could borrow the van he had a very good looking girl friend I ask him if I could borrow his girlfriend for a week horrified he said no there's your answer then son.
I personally thought it was a good swap.

I think you need a different mindset to hire out your van, first off, it needs to be the rental van, not 'your' van. I.e. a van that you can use when not being out on hire, without an iota of sentimental attachment. My daughter has a moho hire co in the lakes and this is sort of how they work. However the damage shown in the earlier pics is heartbreaking, even for hire co's. Any prebooked rentals following glasto are kaput!

We let the teenage grandson sleep in ours on the drive once, no damage and no harm done but things were not left as we leave them. Curtains unbuttoned and pulled across every window despite the blinds! Front blinds left half pulled back, drivers seat left half turned, cushions all on one sofa. Rooflight open, he even used the loo AND left the seat up! So it's a no from me. ;)

Quite a few people here in France make money by hireing them out as air b and b, the advantage is that you can keep an eye on it, but you do need the space to park it such that it can be used, you also need to live somewhere that someone wants to visit.

Enough to put any one off.
We had a van pull up next to us, locker door completely missing half the sill ripped off. I said to the boss I bet that's a hire van, I was right.

On a different note we hired twice in Germany before buying. When returning one van we were accused of bringing it back filthy, he found 3 blades of grass in the garage and a few grains of coffee in a draw.
