Highlands End Campsite & Jurassic Coast Meet 8-12 July 2021 * Full *

:X3: Are pitches allocated on arrival, does anyone know?still very new to this, had zebedee now for a 3rd year..minus last year so am quite curious at looking at the layout there? Having iggle ( grandaughter) with us, so looking forward to start planning...or then again plans always change:LOL:
Nope...... you just choose a pitch. Not even necessary to tell them where you are; they have regular checks to see who is staying where

Thankyou, so we have picked hard standing, presume all okay to put up our quest screen house aswell, nearer the time will contact and check, ask where closer to beach route, due to knee replacement ( and carrying no doubt all of iggles bits and bobs for the beach 🤞

There is a map of the park : https://wdlh.co.uk/holiday-parks/highlands-end/park-map/

General motorhome pitch use : https://wdlh.co.uk/holiday-parks/highlands-end/motorhome-touring-pitches/ They may restrict use of gazebos, awnings due to wind. At top of cliff it is exposed (I'll be taking a wind break last, and I know someone damaged their awning last year)

The park is at the top of the cliff. It will be a walk down (and back up) to the nearest beach, Eype, which is off the bottom of the above map.

Thankyou, much appreciated, had thought about the coastal winds, so will take the quest screen tent with us and see how it goes...haha of not! (y)

Not a problem at all to do that. As Rob Kannon Fodda says, have a look at the site map. Actually there aren’t really any bad pitches. It is fun watching the “camping chair dance” when people move off those pitches down overlooking Eype. Actually they aren’t very big pitches - I would not choose one

In addition to what DuxDeluxe & Kannon Fodda kindly posted above - on arrival we were given a map with our type of pitch circled so we knew where to head to then pick from what was available. The campsite wardens note which registrations are on which pitches daily as they do their rounds. As Funsters have permission to arrive from midday rather than 2pm there should be a good choice of each type of pitch. Quest shelters are allowed at Highlands End so long as well pegged & strapped down as mentioned on the first post on this thread where there is lots of info. which is kept updated. There is West Bay beach on one side - ideal for fish & chips & ice cream but watch out for the seagulls - they had my ice cream last time! Eype beach is on the other - it's lovely but no facilities - there is a longer but gentler path than the coast path as an alternative for getting down to there going down from footpath down from the area where the static caravans are & down past the electric substation. That route is part way on a narrow road with no pavement so maybe not ideal with a child.

Watch out for your food if it is on a BBQ even on the campsite. I recall loosing a half cooked burger last year

A bit of info. that may be helpful taken from a recent email from Highlands End:

Martin's Bar & Restaurant
(at Highlands End Holiday Park)

From May 17th, the indoor seating at Martin's Bar & Restaurant will be available once again with flexible table arrangements and plenty of space - in fact we must be one of the safest venues in the area!
The team are currently in the process of finalising a new menu, alongside homemade specials. We will continue to offer takeaways, for anyone that may not wish to eat inside. We have invested in more screening between tables and other processes that will be in place.

Hmmmm..... might go........ :whistle2:

We have just been informed that my wife is going into hospital for surgery on Monday 12th July. Consequently she has to have a pre-op assessment and COVID test on Friday 9th July and then isolate. Therefore we will be unable to attend the rally. We are very disappointed that we can't come but she has been waiting 2 years for this op so didn't want to delay it further. I have contacted the site to ask if we could postpone until later on in the year.

Thank you for letting us know - hope the op. goes well & you do get to visit Highlands End another time. For info. the dates for the Fun Meet there in 2022 are 7-11 July https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...early-booking-10-discount-code.242020/?id=101 but can understand that you might want to go sooner.

I might have just booked for next year 2022  no discount applied but I will give them a call they may take it off as I have put in the comments that I am part of the smiley face brigade :giggle:

We have also cancelled with the very helpful Hana and transferred to October when we often go anyway. Ours is for a lovely reason as darling daughter is coming home from Bangladesh for a resilience break, the first time since October, very short notice but who cares as long as it doesn’t get cancelled. Good luck to your wife stevewagner .

Hope everyone has a great time and that the sun shines on us all wherever we are and whatever we are doing.

Is it worth taking pushbikes down there or are the roads a bit narrow?
Ta

Leccy push bikes , so no issues with hills 👍

Have had to postpone our booking from this year to next which presumbly means that there is a place available to someone who is wanting it if they are quick!

It's great to have some more lovely Funsters joining us all!
The list on the first post has been updated - if you spot anything wrong or you have booked, aren't on the list yet but you would like to be, then please let us know :active:

Hi All :hi: - as we come up to the time when the balance has to be paid for bookings for this one just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that Jurassic Fields Festival is not going ahead this year (postponed until 8-9 July 2022) - no need to message back just wanted to alert you all in case you hadn't spotted posts #137 & #138 above to avoid any last minute disappointment. We have already enquired about a meet again at Highlands End for next year for those dates 🤞 & will post details once we know what is possible.
Sure we will all still have a great time with lots of friendly socially distanced chats whilst enjoying being in such a lovely location - we can't wait to get back there!
Hi Wombles, just checking for Highlands meet and suspect I did'nt advise we have booked a grass pitch for our first rally.
