I've never seen so many small vans, and hire vans as I have this year, every other one almost, no wonder the Scot's moan about the number of vans now driving around, and yes I am one of them but have been for years, may give up on. Scotland next year though. Then you get these who take up 3 spaces

More than toes wet now!
The advantage of hire vans is that their tour routes are pretty predictable,
On that basis we're now working on promoting the Gorbals 5 to see if it will attract some of the hire vans away from the overcrowded places. 👍

On this beautiful circuitous route they will see many glorious antiquated builds such as -

There are also plenty of fine eateries -

where the locals are very friendly.

Maps / itineraries can be purchased via Fun Lifers Club for the very modest sum of £25 each.👍

Please form an orderly queue though as it will take some time for us to cope with the inevitable demand (and get sobered up!) 👍

I once had a girl friend from that area. This was in 1968 when everyone ate each other. Hope you're well.
Are you sure it was a girl? They used to be rougher than a badger's ar*e from there so maybe you could tell?

Doing all right.

I know you were selling your Autosleeper but are you back on the road again?

Scotland wanted the N500 and they got it with loads of visitors. Now all they want is our money but not us.
I think you'll find Scotland DIDN'T want the nc500 , the road and area was perfectly good before the millionaire named it that to make more money. Worst thing that ever happened. And trust me most of the locals don't care if tourists visit or not . Only the businesses that make money from them do.

And they're not alone , it seems the rest of the world also have problems in tourist areas .

Is the van taking up 3 spaces wearing a cloak of invisibility? I can only see one car in that photo 😁

Aw come on!

Not much of a circular tour that!

They wouldnae get passed the first set of traffic lights with their wheels still on!:giggler:
And Castlemilk is another fine area I'm sure the queen drove through there on her last visit to Scotland

We've been touring Scotland for the past 35 years, we have always been made to feel very welcome, so much in fact that we moved here 19 years ago. Never experianced any animosity or been asked to move on. Sadly the influx of rental units since Covid has caused some problems of anti social behaviour but this is only a small minority of renters, most are good folk.

Same as us with many years visiting. It isn’t difficult to work out where not to overnight or do things that could upset anyone.
Being polite and respectful for someone else’s backyard and we will always be welcome

Not surprised, because they’re not here in France. We’ve been here nearly a month and literally only come across half a dozen British motorhomes.

The NC500 was set up by a Danish businessman with no consultation with local councils or local residents. So there was no advance thought about facilities and its impact etc. Local see very little benefit from it.
I think you will find that the NC500 was set up by the Tourism board of the North Highlands Initiative in 2015, the Dutch guy bought the NC500 Ltd company which is a separate enterprise set a few years later.

Just looked up the history of NC500, very interesting, our now king had a hand in starting it off and now owned by a Dutch guy and the NC500 Ltd made a loss last year so expect more advertising/promoting and more motorhomes that will bring.
