Hi. Retirement plans that (maybe) include a motorhome.

Some people do this, but its a lot of faff, and pitches abroad are generally a lot smaller than in the UK.
That’s no quite true we have been towing a car trailer for nearly ten years now and have travelled extensively throughout Europe and have found most European pitches quite a lot larger than UK sites and also a lot cheaper often with water and drainage.
Everyone to their own but we find taking our car with us very easy and it is the only car we own so it’s not standing at home while we travel. We tend to use areas that are not on the normal tourist travels as we enjoy bird and wildlife watching so having our own transport is ideal, some say why not hire well the restrictions on hire are not helpful especially if you have a dog and we choose to use our own vehicle fitted out for our pets.
To the OP please don’t be put of by the nay sayers talking about difficulties taking your car or telling you to have a caravan. I know what we prefer a 4500 kg motorhome towing a car trailer rather than a car towing a light caravan that the wind can blow around at will and often not able to tow in high winds.
Not everyone can ride a bike or even walk far as I said earlier everyone to their own and there is never a one way that suits all.
Good luck with what ever you choose to do and enjoy your travels 😊

If you really want to look at different types of travel then for choosing the cheaper option (on most occasions) look at the signature in Lenny HB signature for his previous trips and here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/journals/categories/continental-tours.77/map for mainly my previous trips which include a fair to medium amount of ebiking ....... and occasional beer or wine

Or here for perfect freeby and a few other threads he has done if you have a few months to read them ! https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/moby-goes-to-turkey-a-tam-and-pups-adventure.293819/

DBK "two go to...." series are a really good read as are https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/jane-rog’s-eastwards-coddiwomple.304225/ with quite a number of other threads. Helen Ariel comes to mind quickly and I m quite sure I missed a few out without meaning to cause offence

You can then see different styles and places that may interest you or put you off.
