Ok.

Im going to try to respond to this by being polite and pleasant but moreso so that everybody knows where we stand.

As stated previously, this meet at present is OVER subscribed. Until much nearer the time when I can take in to account the variables surrounding weather etc can I make a guess on numbers.

When this opportunity arises I will re-assess how many people I can take.



I have over 20 people PM me or post on here some of whom i have rallied with for years that can not yet get on the list due to numbers, whom I know would turn up if they were on the list to come.


Only at New Year where Nikki and I have had to lay out money before-hand in order secure a place to go have we ever asked for deposits.


We don't wish the hassle of taking deposits and anyone who knows us knows that some times we are chasing people for money when they are leaving as we are so laxidasical about taking it.


Im really sorry if this sounds rude to some people, it's not it's intention at all. It is however the intention to explain to funsters (many new ones) that rallies are organised on the goodwill of people so that as many funsters as possible can have a cracking good time, we are not a business this rally is taking place with the good will of many other funsters (musicians- assistant marshals first aid etc) and will be a ball.

So I ask kindly again, please do not email Joy or anyone else with your probability of not coming, PM myself so that I can Exchange you on the list for some one that is desperate to come and to make it.

Rita and I only just made it for this meet, purely because I just happened to be watching the forums within that 48 hour period. :Eek!: We got lucky, whilst others weren't so lucky. :Sad:
The fact that someone has made six bookings "en bloc", hasn't helped matters any, and that action alone, has regrettably blocked other individual subscribers from booking. :Sad:

When it comes to rallies/meets, shouldn't all subscibers be given the same opportuinity to book on a level playing field, ie, first come, first served? Aren't we all part of the same www.motorhomefun.co.uk ? :Sad:

I asked to be put on the list - if I had only read back up a couple of posts, I would have seen it was really oversubscribed and probably stopped you pulling any more hair out! Please disregard my request - would love to come but if there is no chance, we will plan something else.

I think this forum is a victim of its own phenomenal success so, just as a throw in, and I don't want any brickbats thrown my way if I unintentionally offend, but has anyone ever thought of giving the organisers of a meet a certain number of 'reserved spaces/organisers guests spaces' so that you could at least invite those friends you want to be there who aren't able to make it because they haven't seen the post in time, but would love to come. Having organised events for 10 years, I know how much work goes into it, so we would be happy to know that organisers can at least have the pleasure of their friends company assured at a meet.

Those of you that work (unlucky devils) are definitely at a disadvantage over us V.V.V. early retirees who have nothing better to do than have the forum up on their laptops all day and can get first dabs at any thing going. and I offer the suggestion as nothing more than putting them on a level playing field as well.

As I said - no brickbats to be thrown - if I have offended it was unintentional. :thumb:

I'm not going to throw any brickbats Geraldine, however, I am being genuinely honest, when I say that it was at this point, that I withdrew my "like" for your post. :Sad:

These meets are not organised and marshalled by volunteers, to accommodate friends whom they want to attend. :Eek!: Their efforts and hard work are for the enjoyment of all whom wish to attend, and who were lucky enough to be able to pop their names on the list, whilst spaces were available, ie, first come, first served.
With mobile phone and internet technology, more and more folks have immediate access to the internet these days, (working or not), so many are able to book sooner, rather than later. Rita and I fall into the latter bracket as we aren't as up to date with mobile technology as some others. That's our problem, not theirs, and we accept that.

I personally think it is unnaceptable, to suggest that an organiser is allocated "a certain number of 'reserved spaces/organisers guests spaces' so that you could at least invite those friends you want to be there who aren't able to make it because they haven't seen the post in time". :Eek!: That smacks of "illeteism", and that's not what we are about here on FUN. :Angry:

I'm sorry Geraldine, I don't agree with your suggestion, however, please do not take it as a brickbat being thrown. :Smile:

I know meets aren't organised to accommodate organisers friends, but just thought it would be a helpful suggestion - as I said, didnt mean to offend, sorry if I did.

Normally called "clique" and the worst insult/infection any forum can have.

First come first served and if you fail, it's only a meet, keep trying or better still organise one.

there are loads of alternatives (You have a Motorhome)

But do not BLAME the Organisers because a park has limited capacity or you were unfortunate enough to miss a meeting

And booking everything in sight then calling off at the last minute or just not turning up. That is killing camping in the UK for a lot of us.

Not that I've noticed this happening on FUN yet, but it could.

We cancelled Whitby at the last minute last Nov, I broke the van, someone got our place, that worked fine.

I know this is a discussion that has to take place and would agree. But I just want to get back to the facts please.

It's a Meet, a place where funsters can get together meet new people and have fun, share a drink and enjoy themselves.

We have so many places available.

We have so many people wanting to come.

I will do my absolute damdest to ensure we can accomadate as many people as possible and will try our best to do so.


I really hope cliffandger can attend as I do many of my own friends not on the list. I do understands some of the sentiments but TBH I wouldn't agree to reserving spaces for people as I do believe that does lead to some form of clique that Nikki and I have always tried to avoid. This has probably been the reason that Fun has been so successful. We have people from all over the country that attend MHF meets and enjoy themselves, I would hate for any bad feeling to be gotten on the back of one of the meets that Nikki and I organise or marshall.


The only thing that has ever slightly annoyed me is when people haven't turned up for no other reason than they changed their minds, or moreso when people do not say they are not coming.

Last year we had 76 vans listed to come, 62 attend, if this was the case this year there would be 14 dissapointed people like cliffanger that would of wanted to come but couldn't.

We have often thought about taking payment along with Jim via his shop to ensure that people committ and pay prior to coming hence making sure there is at least that "a committment". However, nikki and I decided against this as it would cost the funster an extra 0.51p to come and we thought it unfair on those that we know turn up every time they say they are coming as very few drop out of shows due to the costs involved.


So Please can we leave it there please?

I really do not want any animosity amongst people on the back of Nikki & I and all the other wonderful people whom help out at these events.


May I ask that if you feel it needs further discussion, you PM me or perhaps raise the question on another thread...

The last thing we need is a bigger headache trying to recover the list :BigGrin:

Anyway, there's a big difference between offending and putting an alternative view, it's a sad day when a FUNster can't come up with an honest take on a thread. Goodness knows I do it often enough.

The main thing is that you keep posting your views, that's the life blood of the forum.

This is something I've not noticed before, people pushing like it's the January Sales.

Yes folks, this Years bring and Buy has been a difficult cookie to organise due to some world cup exploits.

However, we now have a date and a schedule.
Be quick to get your names down.
Be entertained, buy and sell all your old kit you don’t want and replace it for the new kit you also didn’t want.
This year, Janine & Barrie are kindly organising the entertainment, so you know the funster band will be there providing much needed fun and music. So much so that this event will now be known as the

Bring and Buy Midsummer music festival.

The Venue-
Cotton Arms, Wrenbury. Cheshire. CW5 8HG.

The date-
The rally runs from Thursday 17th July to Monday 21st July.

Thursday- will be relaxation and arrival day...

Friday night- cocktails in the hall or open air (depending on weather) for some ram jam sessions led by the Band...

Saturday- will see the Bring and Buy from 11 am.. buy, sell, exchange your goods.

Saturday Night, Will see the band playing for food in the pub, playing for their little tummies as they attempt to not go hungry, it will be tight and packed in there but, it will be fun for sure. The Funster Band are the landlords mothers favourite band and their reputation is growing. Or if it’s too busy for you? Why not just chill in the sunshine and share a BBQ with your neighbours? The likely hood is there will be an informal American Buffet with details closer to the times (it’s this weather thing)

Sunday Morning, 10-30
This will be the Bacon butty time, a chance to sample some fine cooking.

If that’s not enough for you, Im sure in the hall on Sunday night there will be some more musical frolics going on.


If you have not been to a Bring and Buy rally before, then have a quick search through the past 5 years of rallies, there have been as many as 70 + vans enjoying themselves in the Cheshire countryside.
Lets make year 6 another great one.

cost is £7.75 per night- No hook up,, but hey its summer you won't need it.

Its one of the few meets we can make as were busy at shows most other times.
