Adam b The details about the converters connections that you have found are shown in the Motorhome manuals section (page 2 ) of Resources found in the menu of this site, it includes the socket wiring colors which should help to identify the correct relay . (pins 2 and 13 )
The connections into the EC400 are at plug P15 on the ECU

I might be going mad, but I’m sure I read that the fridge & the step are on the same fuse somewhere?
The fridge control board and the step are often on a 'permanent live' circuit that doesn't go off when the habitation 12V power switch is off on the display panel. They may even be on the same fuse. They also stay on when Brit MHs cut off all the habitation circuits when the engine starts.

You want the fridge control board to stay on so that the fridge 12V will work while driving. You want the step to stay powered so that it can be retracted when the engine starts.

However in this case the 'leisure battery not charging while driving' points to an 'engine running' signal problem. Also the OP says the step retracts with the pushbutton (so it is still powered OK), but doesn't retract automatically.

I put a spell on your van since you sneaked off early and we missed saying cheerio  Hope you get it fixed, was nice to meet you both.

There will be a separate Sargent EM40 or EM50 interface unit in addition to the EC400. This interfaces between the vehicle electrics and the hab electrics. It contains fuses and relays and a D+ signal path and will control the step auto-retract, fridge (on whist driving) and also provide a fused connection between the vehicle and hab batteries.

In my van (Autotrail) the EM40 is located in the floor behind the drivers seat. I suspect you may have an EM50 - Not sure where it will be located. Check cupboards, lockers, etc.

I will have a look tomorrow. Thanks

I searched the van for the EM50/40 & I don’t have one, I called Sargent they said not all vans have them ,
I am still stuck . I have no D+ to the psu
Any further suggestions on where to check next.
Thanks

My autocruise/Swift van is not fitted with a EM module either. The link to the cab electrics is at the point you have found at the bottom of the B pillar instead.
Are you able to confirm that there is voltage getting to pin 13 from the dash fuse F49 on the 15 way coach-builders socket at that location to enable relay operation .

I have a different van but just in case…

I have a pair of piggyback fuses near the starter battery and another pair neat the leisure battery bank. They are a 50amp fuse and a 2amp fuse. On my van the 2amp fuse is used in the control side for various tasks along with a feed from D+. If the 2amp fuse blows a lot of my stuff that works with D+ fails, step included

Is the step omnister or project 2000?

Search on this site for omnister if you haven’t already done so
I will have a look on another site I use as well
I seem to remember another thread somewhere relating to the relay with a blue and white wire , I will let you know
