Help with My Dog (Yogi)

With him in the van try running the engine for a few minutes without going anywhere.
It may be the engine noise which upsets him.
If he's ok then it must be the motion.

A lot of people say that their dog is worse in the van than in a car. There is a huge difference though. Try sitting on the floor in a van or motorhome and have somebody take you for a drive. You feel everything through the floor, engine vibrations and road noise and to top it all, you will soon find yourself trying to hold on to something due to the way the floor moves. Put yourself in the mind of your dog! They are happy to be going away, but dreading the drive to get there

All three of ours are less happy in the van than the back seat of the car, but Ronnie gets very stressed. If he can get himself between the other 2 and against the furniture, he will go to sleep. Otherwise he pants and drools

We don't like travelling with them on seats as there is always the risk of falling off, so I have bolted brackets to the floor and they have chains to their harnesses. He seems happiest with the chain as short as possible as he feels safe

Sometimes a long walk before going any distance in the car does work sometimes.

other times it makes no difference.

Try a couple of drops of "Rescue Remedy"... always worked on our nervous ponies when trying to load them...

Also helps the Beauty Terrorist on an airplane .

My dog likes calming dog music for dogs on Spotify! Falls asleep very quickly!
