Help with faulty tap on Hymer

I think I agree Toady. Lenny HB tried epoxy and failed. Ultimately, a Shurflow pump is the answer. I had one on my last van. More powerful flow, accessible for maintenence and not ridiculously fiddly like the microswitch approach.
BTW, what size are the bolts for the tap tops?

I’m having trouble with the system in our van as posted elsewhere 😕how would a shurflow pump work as a replacement?

I have the same Reich vector tap, and need to replace the micro switch. I located the torx screw at the back just below the lever but can’t locate the screw near the base. Does anyone have a photo of where this screw is at all? So far i have removed the lever, and undone the torx screw at the top (just behind the lever) but everything remains firmly in place. I don’t want to force anything and cause any further damage, but I need to gain access to the micro switch. Please help!

Hi Beana,
Just seen your post. Have you sorted it?

Can anybody tell me the size of torx head of grub screw please. My set goes down to T8 as do others on the rally field in Bridlington. Looks like I need a smaller one.

peterc10 Don't know what number it is, but Graham thinks he's got the right screwdriver. (He hasn't been able to get the screw out with it though, due to corrosion .)

He'll have it in the van at Ashbourne and Bedale, if you still need to use one, be our guest :giggle: !

Some more photos. Should help with screw head attachments required.

Thanks for that. I have decided to convert my system to pressure activated so, hopefully, I will not be replacing the faulty microswitch. Just got fed up when both the toilet basin and kitchen sink taps failed in the 3 weeks we were away. Rigged up a switch system as a temporary fix and will be changing the system in July when we have some time at home.

See you at Ashbourne.

Well I have now fitted a whale pressure switch, so my system is now pressure activated with no need to rely upon the crappy designed microswitches. Once I had assembled all the stuff I needed it only took about an hour to fit it all. Still using the quiet submersible Reich pump just changed the way that it switched on. And when that pump fails I already have a spare waiting. Slight clicking on the pressure switch but only lasts for a second or two.

Just love the lengths some will go to fix things ,in this case the tap micro switch as I’ve posted elsewhere I just replaced the bloody tap !!
happy days 😄😄😄

That is OK but the micro switch was £18 and a new tap was over £100.

I have got two taps and a shower unit. It made sense to fix the tap.

If I had done that it would have cost me well north of £300 in the last few years. That is for two basin taps and one sink tap. And it would still have been a real struggle to do it because of the awkward access. Those 3 failures have also caused real hassle as they always happen when we are away enjoying ourselves, so limited tools and patience available!

Once I have made sure this is working well I will buy a spare Whale pressure switch to carry around for around £35 on t'internet. With the way I have fitted it using easy click in and out Whale fittings it would only take me 10 to 15 minutes to swop over with no tools needed.

Or just fit a switch on the system. Flick the switch pump runs.

We had that temporarily when the microswitch went and it drove us round the bend. Trouble is when you forget to switch it off and the pump burns out. Forever having to remind each other. And it would be very inconvenient for showering.

peterc10 Does the conversion to a pressurised system place any strain on the plumbing joints ?
Only time will tell. So far no sign of leaks, but we will soon find out if there are. It will cause the pressure to drop so the pump will start up without us switching on the tap.
