I'm wanting to get a DA polisher, but don't know much about of them. It won't get used a lot - needed for MH, boat and car so I don't want to spend a lot, but do want it to do the job properly.

What is the most useful size? I've seen sizes varying from 3" to 7" diameter.

Please can anyone recommend a suitable one, or give me any pointers about features to look for?

One the size of a 4” grinder will do you.

I use pads from 4” to 6” on mine.
If you get waffle pads they are more forgiving.

Always spritz the pad before starting 👍

It will become addictive 😊

Gave my DA polisher a serious workout today.

Wash, clay-bar then paint correction and wax.

I used Meguiars Microfiber Correction Compound followed by Meguiars Microfiber Finishing Wax.

Scrubs up well!

As long as you buy a decent orbital one and not a cheap rotary one you will be OK.
I've been watching lots of YouTube videos. The choice of pads and compounds seems extensive.

Firstly, I want to use it on my 45 year old boat. The hull got painted long ago, but the cabin is very matte gel coat. I never expect it to look pristine, but I just want to have a surface that doesn't attract dirt and mould.

Then there's the MH. Not been polished for a while, but not as shiny as I'd like.

Any pointers as to suitable pads, polish and waxes?

Having never used an electric polisher, I'm nervous about practicing on my MH!
It’s a bit nerve wracking at first - but there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. Keep it away from the graphics thou.

Since I was 18.... 1996....
I have the sma wine mentioned:

I have a Das 6 Pro, pleased with it.

Work well for me for my occasional use a few times a year.

Just finished my camper spring clean with a light paint clean an polish and it does make the job much easier but it is easy to get addicted/go down a rabbit hole on detailing…..

Amazing I did not take after photos this time as I was doing it in evenings after work , Just on the roof decontamination and wash ….

I use the Das 6 and orange pad 6" and 3" for small areas. You can slow it down to suit. Spray a little water on to stop overheating. Even used it on my car. Then ceramic coating (the car).
I use Menzerno 400 grit cutting paste, dont bother with the finer 3500 paste.
