HELP, problem with water pump in Globecar!

We are all sorted, the pump is working well and we have hot water yeyyyyy.

We have decided that we need an isolated switch to protect the pump, in the meantime we will take the fuse out so we can’t run the pump when we have drained down.

Thanks again for all your help and advice.

My [Wildax] control panel has a water pump button - is this what you mean about an isolation switch?

Well, as some may know we had a fault with our control panel develop a month or so ago, then yesterday, whilst getting the van tidy for the hab check chap, hubby found that the pump no longer worked. We assume that either the control panel fault has caused this maybe having the pump 'live' even when the panel was turned off (no taps had been left open to burn it out), or the pump has just decided to join the panel and go kaput!

Upshot is that the hab chap fitted a new 12v pump so he could test the systems properly and we've bought it off him (£10) so we can at least use the camper if we want to get away for a couple of days which we SERIOUSLY need to do as we're going stir crazy and need a break from decorating! We'll have to get a replacement for the original from the dealer/Globecar which I'll fit and then keep this new one as a spare as it's not quite as powerful as the original. Oh well ... another little job for me!

Oh nearly forgot, the original is a Comet Lux Plus 19 l/min, 0.85 bar like the below:

I think its jinxed! :D

At least I can sort the panel myself and won't have to make a trip down to the dealer to sort it, same for the pump.

Update, just got a new pump sent to use by JC Leisure so at some point I'll get it fitted! :D

We bought a spare identical pump from Amazon. I know some people fit a non submersible pump which may be a route we go down ultimately ...
No don't do that. The in-tank pumps are as reliable (if not more so), they are more efficient, they're cheaper, and any cheapo will do as a spare.

Centrifugal pumps (in tank) are NOT designed to run dry.
The soft impellor blades will heat up with friction (water lubricates the impellor) and slow down causing the motor to overheat and eventually either burn out or pop a fuse.

Diaphragm pumps will run all day without water.

For any of you guys that have replaced your Globecar Comet Lux submersible pump, what sealer did you use on the pump body to light blue non-return valve body joint did you use? Or did you just rely on an interference fit?
I've just replaced mine without a sealer and am wondering if it is likely to shake loose without some form of fixing.
