Hi Everyone
We need to get our hab battery out for collection (I am claiming faulty under warranty). Not quite sure how to do that yet as it is 40kg dead weight, however….
John has already disconnected it and I see on another thread it is advised to disconnect solar first - luckily it is very overcast and raining.
What do we need to do to disconnect it please?

Ok going out now to take one PV wire out.
When you say add a fuse, where would that go and why? No spare wire in cupboard, just those that are in the photo. It is possible that Vanbitz, who fitted it, put a fuse somewhere but cannot see one.

Isn't there a blade fuse on the underneath of the MPPT, on the left side as you look at the unit, there is on my Victron 75/15

Ah, that I don’t know, will have to take off the varifocals and wedge my head upside down to see that - or maybe use my phone to take a photo, that’s a better idea. Will check in the morning.

You can see the yellow blade fuse in this image.

Thank you, so could just have pulled that out instead of disconnect PV wire?
Everyday a school day on here!

If you have disconnected a wire, best to cover any bare copper with a bit of insulation tape to save an accidental contact.

Must be a burly Bristol Funster?
I've seen people have to lift and wedge and lift again using a piece of wood when battery is heavy and awkward access.

My RV engine battery is heavy and had to use one arm and my head to lever it over a beam to fit into it's holder - all whilst I am jammed up inside the front wheel arch 😁

A neighbour who has a fancy big N&B answered my call of distress confidently saying he moved his own battery. Nope, cannot be lifted from it’s well fitting hole.
The multitool is coming out tomorrow to cut away the cupboard!

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Before you replace the battery put a couple of loose webbing straps around it first which will make it easier to lift out next time.

No it won’t, it has handles already around which we have attached a strong rope and made a fulcrum with a bar and an axle stand, still too heavy !

Unfortunately the space is rather limited. If Leoch renege on the warranty then I might look at lithium now prices dropping. I have sent an enquiry to RogerIvy.
Cannot be doing with going through this again.
For goodness sake, no-one tell Lenny HB ! I can hear his “told you so” all the way here from Spain. 🤣🤣
