I'm new and nervous but very excited!
We're new to Motorhoming but we've both been driving forever and have owned and caravan previously. I've just been quoted £845 Caravanguard and £1,150 Safeguard for insurance (we've no convictions or medical convictions etc. - does this mean reasonable - I was expecting to pay half this?!

Try Comfort, LV, NFU, etc. Safeguard quoted me £1300 and I ended up paying £350 with Comfort

I was with safeguard all my early years of motorhoming but they seem to have gone to stupid prices,
As mentioned try LV, but phone them as the online is a waste of time. or Comfort..
£300-450 seems more reasonable and what i would expect..

My car insurance renewal arrived last week. Almost £200 increase. My broker is looking for alternatives but said increases are to be expected. In one of the online news items I read at the weekend it confirmed that high price rises are to be expected this year. Something to do with low claims during lockdown and how this has reversed.

Insurance cost has escalated this year. Agree with The Wino. Try the comparison sites, it will give you an idea how much you will need to pay. Then if you phone around you'll have a figure to bargain with.

Now resolved - thanks guys - £428 with Comfort :roflmto:
Did you try the comparison sites? If not have a try anyway if it comes out less you know next year. The cheapest we had was with a company I'd never heard of called insurd but the underwriter is ageis who are pretty well known.

Depends on your vehicles cost amongst other things (area its to be kept in, whether its on the road, whether its at your property etc)

My first year on a 29k MH was £360 and the year after with a 1 year NCD, it was £320 on a 40k campervan

All kept on drive at home

Try Grove & Dean, they did well for me, as I was unable to transfer no claims bonus.
They even provided me with a free Tracker.

Personally, I found the comparison site a total waste of 40 minutes.

Depends on your circumstances we saved about £150 over the original renewal quote. At your 40 minutes I wouldn't turn my nose up at £225 an hour!
That being said a licence for 45 years being retired and living in a low crime area with no points probably helps!

Give Adrian Flux a go. we're new this year and they did the best deal for us nearly half price of others, took our NCD for the cars into consideration too.

Comfort for us , only went up £15 this year , been with them for years with various MH’s and PVC’s . There was a post about declaring modifications that resulted in insurance being declined ,make sure you are informing them of any modifications, I had a towbar fitted this year , let them know and they added it to the policy without any issue or added cost for it.

So they should have had plenty of money saved to pay out for claims that hadn't ibncreased just went back to normal. Just scammers who've dished out the "saved" covid money in bonuses / dividends to shareholders.

Comfort wanted 33.6% more this year. Scenic motorhome insurance saved me £130.

The more I deal with insurance companies, the more disillusioned I get. 😡

Got a quote over the phone this morning from Comfort Insurance of £765 but as we hadn't arranged secure parking at the time (so couldn't give them a postcode) we asked for a quote assuming it was parked at home, but would look at the figures again if we were to get secure parking. Fair play to my wife, she arranged Accredited CaSSOA "Gold Standard" parking in a secure compound with "4-levels of security onsite including electronic access control, secure perimeter fencing, CCTV and alarm systems" ...... and (drum roll please) the premium has now gone up to £950.

How the hell can it be less secure in a "Gold Standard" secure compound with razor wire, CCTV and alarms than sat in my own private drive at home with just German Shepherd Mk I for security? Someone somewhere is taking the p*ss, but you feel like you're banging your head against a brick wall because the "Computer Says No". 😡
