Help, driving licence expires when I'm in Spain

My new driving licence arrived today, it's dated from the day I applied, so I've lost 3 months. That's not a problem for this trip, but we are intending to do longer trips over the winter in the future, so I. 3 years, if we're still doing it, my licence will expire in the middle of our trip. I did check and it's only possible to get a new licence within 90 days.

Just done mine age 66 so it expires at midnight at tge start of my 70th birthday

I noticed on the application that you have to return your old licence to Swansea, this is confirmed on the letter with the new licence . Do you really have to send the old one rather than just destroy it , I prefer to lose it on the fire, cut in half and posted doesn’t seem very secure

I changed my address sent my license in and they lost it.
My 10 year renewal I didn’t bother thay still haven’t chased me for it that was two years ago
I replaced my driving license February last year changed of address
Didn’t bother sending in my old one they haven’t chased me for it

It should be 10 years from the date you renew it. Same as if you have endorsements removed it starts again from that date.

I'm over 70 so it's every 3 years
