The problems is I now can't get her into first gear??? Omg!

All that work done on warranty n now I CAN'T DRIVE IT AT ALL!!

My strapping 6.6ft son in law cant do it either, a few of his male friends can't either !,

So we are now stuck with Dollie, in a driveway unable to move it. Deskership now washing their hands of it, as they said theve contractably done all repairs, n their driver drove it up from Somerset, albeit, driver said it was very stiff now in 1st n 2nd.

Stiff is an understatement, mmmm!!!! no one can get it into 1st, so I'm stuck with a MH I'm.un able to use?

Jaws if yr out there, can u suggest what I do? I can't get my money back, dealership says its drivable but nO ONE Can get her into 1st gear position. 😤 I'm demented with worry now???

Thanks guys, I'm hoping someone comes up with a loosening mechanism so we can get the mechanical forks to be more line-up?
Anything really please I'm.hoping someone out there can help, this is my life's savings n Dream of traveling around the uk in my retirement
Thanks guy sweet caroline ❤

Haven't tried that, but early is, if we dlow down or had to stop at traffic lights, n it won't work the worry of traffic etc around me makes
If you need to move it try putting it in 1st gear then start the engine can. be driven like that but not easy.
Sadly if I then stop at traffic lights, n itvwont go back onto 1st, then the worry of traffic around me piling up would be incomprehensible for me at present

Also have you got break down cover with your insurance?
Yes but not from home start

I’m no mechanic but could this be something simple like the gearbox being wrongly positioned on the gearbox mountings?
Have you anyone local who could maybe try shifting the engine/gearbox on its mountings. 15 min job if you can find someone local

It will probably go into 1st gear when you are moving so change to first before you stop, I do apriciat that it is not easy thing to do or you will have to stop the engine then put it into gear.

Sadly van won't move in 2nd gear, n I've a 380 mile drive back to Somerset to dealer,

Is it the same dealer who sold you the m/h who later fitted the 'new' gearbox and clutch? If so, he hasn't fixed the original issue and although he's 380 miles away I think it would be likely you'll have to deliver it back to him unless you can convince him to pay for having it sorted by a garage nearer to you.

Can you post the invoice on here, or at least give the cost breakdown?

I expect a reconditioned g/bx was fitted, not a 'new' new one. That's quite acceptable if it was reconditioned properly. However, it may be a s/h one from a breaker so it could be faulty anyway.
I think you said it goes into gears with the engine stopped so it's possible that it's not a g/box fault but a clutch problem (but with few and scant details that's just a guess).

Thank you sooo much for yr kind in indents reply spridler. No garage in Suffolk could fix her. So dealership picked her up n did job by Best Gear Box Specialist in Bristol, so they say.!!

Invoice at home, n I'm.on holiday without Dollie in Wales at present. So will post invoice on Thursday on my return. But it has a new clutch on her too. Driver said as it's next will take 5k miles to run in. But as I can't do 1st or 2nd she isn't going anywhere to accumulate 5k anyway

Are you with AA or RAC legal cover is included as it can be with C&MC and C&CC it may also be possible to add legal cover to your insurance, I did once but was quite a few years ago.
do hope you get it sorted, meanwhile enjoy Wales.

But Driver insisted straight to floor, up back into neutral then 2nd,as its too difficult straight down.
That statement alone shows behaviour of gearbox / clutch is badly wrong. The idea of needing to double clutch went out in the 1960s. It's an admission by the driver that the "repair" was inadequate and he should never have attempted to deliver it to you.

there is some adjustment on the clutch and the gear linkage may not have been reconnected right

Another thought is, have you checked the clutch/brake fluid level? it may have leaked at the master cylinder when they put the clutch in. It is a combined master cylinder. Top half is brakes and clutch below. If the garage that changed the fluid did it wrong, the clutch fluid does not get replaced. Found that on my van and that confused a fiat professional garage for a few weeks
the clutch is cable operated on this model year
if the van is started in first gear with the clutch pedal to the floor when you try to move off how much movement is there on the pedal if very little could be the cable I cannot understand how the person delivering this van back to Caroline did not just turn around and take it back to the garage shocking behaviour

Talking out of his rear end he obviously knew something was wrong with it.
Gearboxes don't need running they should work perfectly from new.

We had a van on a Peugeot, and got exactly the same symptoms as the op, every time it had been standing over winter, we had to get someone underneath with a can of wd40 being squerted at the cables while someone inside kept moving the lever about and eventually it would clear .

Agree with Chasser bad workmanship at its finest but could be sticky push pull gear change cables and incorrectly adjusted cables.

The OP's avatar says the van is 2001 don't think that will be a cable operated clutch.

Is it the gear selection shaft needs resetting for selecting first and second gear’s ?

if it's cable operated, it can definitely be adjusted if the cable hasn't stretched

Shocking dealer by the sounds of it. Tell them to send their driver back to demonstrate it to you & then he can report back. They obviously haven't fixed it. Horrible they aren't helping
