They have frost some mornings, bit better than our weather granted, but worth the expense of travelling all that way when you can go in the summer? No way ๐Ÿ˜

IMO
Itโ€™s worth every penny to spend time in Spain over winter not all of us like 40ยฐ C temperatures in summer, the winters in Spain are usually very pleasant if you stay around the coasts.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Šโค๏ธ

Very true for me 20-25ยฐ daytime and 12-15ยฐ nighttime is perfect. Warm enough to not constantly be sweating or trying to keep dogs cool and no need for heating . Winner winner chicken dinner.

Someone I follow on instagram was north of Burgos today and Iโ€™m sure I saw a light dusting of snow on the aire he was staying at โ˜น๏ธ

Iโ€™ve never seen snow where my feet are in Spain๐Ÿ˜œ but have been in some freezing conditions even in Murcia one February

I have lived in Herault in France for the last 18 years, i can think of several times the beach has been covered in snow, just becouse it is the med, it doesn't mean it is always warm.
Agreed, but George Osbourne stopped our Winter Fuel Payments because, unlike Italy, it is apparently borderline sub-tropical! It is distinctly chilly in the Charente-Maritime tonight and we are at only 30m altitude.

Thats becouse (apparently) when they worked out the average tempreture, they included all the overseas departments.

But having said that, it is a luxury to be able to go to the Caribbean or indian ocean without leaving france, no worries about healthcare insurance etc, it all works exactly as if you were in france, even the flights are internal flights.

I wasn't sure which bit you thought was funny.

Not that I trust the connection as a reliable source. But...

As far as what I said about overseas departments, we went to Guadeloupe in march, and intend to go out again, I checked with a travel insurance company, they wanted to charge a fortune, as they include the Caribbean as part of north America and a neighbour said you dont need it, becouse it is no different than going on holiday to your next department.

Its not unusual to see Snow around Irun route in winter and the snow in the nevadas seem to hang around a long time, guess its a height thing.

I misread your post and thought you were being ironic. There isn't an icon for that unfortunately.
We have both spent much the same length of time permanently in France (we arrived in January 2006) so will have had the same experiences with Sarkozy's dislike of "inactifs" and all the Brexit stuff eventually being resolved by the WA Residency cards. I understand that residents of overseas domains do not have totally free access to France so would want to check myself about health cover over there.

Snap, we arrived 28th Dec 2005.

Before we went, I had a long chat to our Axa rep that deals with our car house and mutuelle insurance, who just happens to be english, she assured me that everything was the same, if you have a carte vitel, it will work the same, so would the mutuelle, i asked about insurance for lost or theft of items, she said it was covered under our house insurance the same as holidaying in france, the only thing it wouldn't cover is repatriation, if you were hospitalised, you would have to pay to be transported back to france, if you wanted to have treatment more local to where you lived.
I am talking about Overseas departments DOM, I think Overseas territoires TOM are a different matter.

So we just got the basic insurance from the airline to cover delays, cancellation etc. We did a relocation cruise from Guadeloupe to Barcelona on the way back, so also took out the insurance with the cruiseline for that.

But always check yourselves with your own insurance company.

I'm surprised it's colder than Badajoz as it's 100M south and 200m lower and closer to the coast. Is it just that it's later in the day and has warmed up?
Always fascinates me that Teruel is only 140km from Valencia yet the winter temp can get down to -20ยบc. I know it is at 900m+ above sea level though.

Altitude AND inland has to make quite a difference. Even here in UK, the coastal bit of Hampshire is warmer than Andover, Basingstoke and Aldershot, none of which are at any significant altitude.

Always seems to be warmer by the coast I find.

It's fascinating indeed. As you may know, Teruel is one of the vertices of the so-called "ice triangle", the other two being Molina de Aragรณn and Calamocha.
Furthermore, it is a sparsely populated area (not Teruel city, but the mountain range to the east), so what more could we ask for??๐Ÿฅณ
Ah yes, don't tell the Germans or the Dutch ๐Ÿคซ though anyway they ramm our coast ๐Ÿ˜

When riding a motorcycle it's quite noticeable the wind on your legs gets cold when you get about 10 miles from the coast

At this time of the year in 2015ish, I stopped in Burgos for a couple of nights in my VW, it was -4c one night.

I quickly up sticks and ran for the Algarve where it was +16c ๐Ÿ‘
