Knaus Boxstar family
Hello
As you might guess I’new here and of course there are some problems for which I search help.
I’m enjoying my holiday’s and weekends with a Knaus Boxstar family 6m camper van.
My first question:
Is there a section to find information on GPS trackers and in particular VELOCATE as it is standard installed in the Knaus camper Van.
Thank you for a link to the correct thread.

Welcome from a lesser expert

Hi and welcome

I have a lot of experience with trackers, as Jim said, what would you like to know?
Hello Eddie
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I’m not sure if Jim reads this too, else I copy it later to him.
VELOCATE is a gps tracker standard build in into Knaus campers and switched on if you specify this at the time of ordering.
The unit is hidden somewhere in the van and not functioning.
Knaus isn’t willing to indicate the location and I have no confidence in the Kaus dealer.
Velocate seems a one person company without a customer service nor client oriented as they don’t answer emails nor phone.
Maybe someone can help.
Best regards

Hi, I've not come across Velocate before. but the website seems helpful once it's translated. https://www.velocate.com/. What do you need to know?

Meanwhile, welcome to the Fun (y)
Hi Jim
Thanks for your welcome, Eddie offered help to me and I copy my answer below as I’m not sure if you read everything.
Thanks for the link, indeed I know them “All too good” in the negative sense.
Best wishes

I will be a “less expert” and simple owner. Based on what you have found out I would get Eddie to fit a new system for you that you can be in control of. Forget the old one, sounds more hassle than it’s worth.

Well to be frank, the main reason people have a tracking device installed is for an insurance requirement

Velocate will not be Thatcham approved, so not acceptable to UK insurance companies.

If your not after an insurance approved tracker, you can buy one for twenty to thirty quid, and using a PAYG SIM card cost very little to run

OK thanks for your time and advice.
I’m planning to send a few google stars to this company and that’s it.
Never had to worry about a gps tracker with my 1989 VW T3 camper, still running fine for short trips.

Good advice, I just have to cross the “Channel” from Bretagne to Britany and spend my holidays over there.
