As a PAYG network, they're appalling. 1p mobile and TalkHome both charge 1p per call/text/Mb. GG charges are 25p/10p/10p.

And as data providers (with their GoodyBags) the EU is a complete non-starter (5Gb allowance), and, as had been mentioned by Soycd, going over your allowance will likely cause a heart attack. Along with other petty restrictions, and their "matey crud" they are a joke.

Even in the UK there are better options.

They used to be the best because they're was little competition. Not so now.

(Incidentally, how do I reference someone's name so it shows in blue?)
I see, they are OK for me though as I no longer go abroad and my 40GB a month with unlimited calls and texts for £10 is more than adequate, I take your point though about roaming Giffgaff would suit me if I still went over the water. As to someones name in blue , No idea.

Since 2020 - caravanned for 30 years before that
I use a giffgaff sim in a tracker box, basically uses sms updates to report position. The cheapest monthly package is fine for that, with inclusive sms even abroad. However, I wouldn't use for data though.
