Nice and cosy here at Playa Carolinas.

After 5 nights at Carolinas we are pushing South, not far though, just down to Playa Vera. Spent a few hours among the lemon groves washing the Saharan dust off the van, I know @Munchie I should have done it on site at Totana....;)

Now in my favourite part of Spain, had a few days at San José. Need to get ablutions done and bedding washed etc, so pulled into Cabo de Gata camper park for a night or two. Weather has been great too.

Semana Santa means it's going to be busy in Spain, where to go? Since my last post we have spent a week at San José, 2 nights at LA Isleta, then 2 nights on the Cabo de Gata Camp aire. Decided to head back to Las Negras and get a good spot before the hoards arrive, and boy did they arrive. All quiet again now, OH and a bit of a heat wave at the week end. Happy days. :)

After 50 days in the Cabo we decide we must leave. We go via Agua Amarga, we used to stay there until the height barriers went up. Luckily there's still a piece of waste ground where motorhomes can stop. Stopped 4 days and had some great walks to the surrounding beaches. Also got talking to an interesting Frenchman living in a Berlingo.

Still here, well not in Spain anymore, but slap bang in the middle of France. Hung around the Costa Brava for an extra week as it was too hot in France! (Work that out). I do like France and the Aires. Here is one we stayed at for one night. Had a walk around the hills the following day, 10 minutes after we got back to the van......

We are still here, but the Camel was the last straw.

Not just a camel, llamas, goats and a horse too.

What fascinates me with the French fairground trucks is that most have both French & Spanish registration plates, particularly on the trailers ?

Actually , as camels go, he appears to be quite smart.(y):giggle:

Can I ask if that route is toll free?
Mostly toll free, after doing this route a few times, I've realised paying some tolls here and there can make the journey a whole lot easier. :)

It's gonna be my first time in Spain driving and I'm worried about accumulating a large toll bill.
Not used to toll roads so I figured I'd just try and avoid them ....also solo driving in a rhd

Tolls very cheap in Spain and not many of them so don’t worry some are worth it as you miss heavier traffic

Are they pay as you go?
I tend to prefer quieter roads as opposed to motorways , rather amble along the coast or through the country than boring motorways
I have a year so I'm in no hurry

Tolls in France €10 per 100km, less in Spain, no need to use tolls in Spain. We drive from Bayonne to Alicante toll free on mostly fast duel carriageways.

What time of year? I would leave Barcelona until springtime, say late April early May.
